looks like you've got lots of great suggestions already! Only thing I wondered about is how far apart the 2 boys are... the market is being constantly bombarded with new products for infants and little ones that can really help simplify life for new moms and/or aid in devopment of the little ones...
Diapers are always a good one, the new genie's are nice too though... one of my favorite products were Medella's microwaveable sanitizing bags... DH and I have lots of out of state relatives and it was nice to be able to only take a coulple of bottles with us and know we could sanitize them on the go without boiling water or a dishwasher- found them at Target...
Also a huge fan of disposable bibs and sticky placemats for dinning out...

I think a baby book is a great idea...Borders has soooo many cute ones! I almost forgot to buy one with my second Child. I agree Diapers are GREAT! There are some cute ideas online how to make Diaper Cakes...Diapers in the shape of cakes, you can add little toys or blankets..really cute stuff!

Another great Idea, gift certificate to her favorite take out restaurant. It's hard in the beginning to get a meal together!

Dear Lisa,

I sell a botanical baby product that is amazing!!! Once your sister tries this she will never use anything else.

The diaper rash creme is amazing and so is the baby lotion - no mineral oil!

It is truly a beautful gift that she will thank you for. The website is Arbonne.com and if you are interested in purchasing, please email me as I can get you a 35% discount.

I really appreciated handmade things or items purchased at a resale shop. With number 2, you become much more practical!! Gift cards seem so impersonal but they can really help - especially if they are for places that 'mainstream' society tends to overlook (online eco-friendly retailers, cloth diaper shops, natural groceries, etc...)

Books are a good idea. Even if your sister in law has the same book, it may have been chewed on or otherwise damaged especially if it was "loved".

A personalized piggy bank for the baby.

Stationery with the family name and all of the family members names on it (now that they are a bigger family).

A DVD that the older child can share with his/her baby sibling.

Gift certificates for takeout food from local restaurants.

Matching outfits for both children, so they can dress the same for photos.

Lisa,

I just had my 2nd son, and they are only 11 months apart. And, yes, you are probably right that she doesn't need more boy clothes. Unless, of course, they are born in totally different seasons. Or, if they aren't too far apart, it is sometimes cute to get matching outfits.
Diapers was a great gift to receive too. I know giftcards sometimes seem impersonal, but they were the greatest gift I got. It can be so helpful for formula, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, new nipples, bottle accessories, etc.
Another idea would be a gift certificate to a photography studio. I got one for my shower, and it was wonderful, because they are so expensive. And, sometimes it is harder to get the same amount of pictures with the 2nd one, but with a gift certificate, there is no reason not to.
I think a baby book is a great idea too! She probably got one for the 1st, but hasn't even thought about it for the 2nd yet. Hope this helps!

Hi Lisa,

Why don't you get the baby something monogrammed. That is always a great gift. I have two boys also and when I had my second I loved getting that kind of stuff. My first one didn't get that much monogrammed. Also books are always good too!

I gave a pair of Robeez shoes recently. It's hard to re-use shoes and they are super cute and not something you would necessarily buy for your own child.

My best friend just had her second and when she was pregnant she was lamenting the fact the this baby will probably not get any new clothes like the first one did, and she was feeling a little sad for the baby. Why not just ask your sister what she would like, and then you can still throw in something a little more personalized with it (like a monogrammed something, or a tied off fleece blanket, they are easy and inexpensive).

Diapers are a great idea. You could also give a gift card to Target, babies r us or where ever she likes to shop for baby items.
Another idea is a gift for her like a gift basket full of things to pamper herself with. A spa gift card would be nice too, depending on how much you want to spend. I'm sure what ever you get her she'll appreciate the thought.
