Hi there, do any of you have suggestions for a gift for runners? All I can think of are compression socks.. anything else that would be cool/nice/helpful to have for someone who runs and hopes to train for a half marathon soon? Thanks!

What can I do next?

If this if for another female....I love my Sweaty Bands. Really cute headbands that stay in place, absorb sweat and can be thrown in the washer. They are around $15 if I recall what I paid.

For a male or female runner - a good running mix of music would be great. Body Glide, supply of goo packs. Maybe just put together a runners care package.

If she uses an ipod while running a gift card for itunes would be nice so she has some new tunes to groove to while running or to use on some of the really cool running aps if she's got on iphone.

Subscription to a runners magazine: Runners, Women Running, something like that? If not then you can look at the magazine to see what they suggest to use/buy.

A gift certificate for a massage! Massage Envy has really good, but inexpensive massages.
Or a foam roller to work out all those sore muscles.
Or this thing called "The Stick". It's like a rolling pin, but more effective at rolling away muscle tension especially after distance running.

---Nike has a little chip you can put in your shoe that logs your miles/ steps/elevation. Very cool.

-Bic bands- 10 dollars a piece, sparkly hair bands that stay put, soak sweat and are stylish

-Wrist or ankle weights. Or weighted gloves.

-An arm monitor for heart rate and speed.

- fit book, little journal to log calories and workouts.

Subscription to runners world. I am a runner, just ran my 1st marathon and I love the magazine. If he/she is new to running, it will make them feel like a runner and love it that much more.

THE first thing that came to mind is ITUNES gift card. I always want new (actually OLD/80s) songs to amp up my work-out. It's amazing what new music will do for inspiration to keep running!

I'm always happy to get new workout clothes. It seems I'm constantly washing the same 3 outfits. You can get one of those shirts that wicks moisture away from the body and running shorts to match.

If you know where they shop and are ok with giftcards give them a giftcard to that shop. Good running shoes are pricey and I know any giftcard I have is put towards a good pair of shoes that otherwise I would not consider. My friends who are all season runners in wisconsin burn through a pair of running shoes in a year or two.

A Polar heart rate monitor. As they change models sometimes you can pick up last year's model for under $50.

Mine does not have a stop watch function. There are times I wish I had that capability with the ability to do splits so maybe even a stop watch if they are interested in their time.

I second the running magazine subscription. I loved mine! If not, I'd just go for a gift card to her favorite sporting goods shop and let her decide.

Have you considered buying face towels or cotton t-shirts? If not, energy drinks can be an option too.

They have all kinds of things at sports shops for runners. I know they have some neat "water bottle holders" that strap on the body and have pockets for the runner to stash small items.

If nothing else a gift card to Sports Authoriy or some such store in your area would work.

Go into REI or any other sport store and take a look around. Socks, reflectors, water bottles, sun glasses, shorts, or shirts.
