Gift for Friend Who Underwent Breast Cancer Surgery

My friend who lives in New Orleans underwent breast cancer surgery last week. I wanted to send her something more personal than just flowers. Any ideas what I could send her? Thanks.

What can I do next?

My Mom needed button down shirts as it was hard to get a shirt over her head after surgery. We bought her button down pjs as well as casual shirts to wear during the day.

you could send her a gift certificate for a cleaning service in her area. Since she won't be able to move around much, she might appreciate someone helping her out with cleaning. You could send her a gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure for a pick me up. Just a few thoughts.

I really like Julie's idea regarding the button down shirts. I never realized that was an issue until one of my friends who also had the surgery discussed it. How kind of you to want to do something special!

There's a book out there called - "Dear God, They say its Cancer" I have heard it's a great book. It has some journal spots in it - but really is for the woman going through it.
Good luck.....this will be something she will face forever....not just today. I have 2 recovering friends that I am close to....it's tough some days....

I found a framed piece of work at Family Christian Stores in Plano that says "What Cancer is Not" and incorporates a scripture in a creative way. It has a yellow flower on it (there is another one with the traditional pink ribbon on it, but I like this one MUCH better). It was $30 and my step mom really was touched and found a place for it before I left so that she could see it throughout the day to encourage her.
