Getting Silly Putty Out

Santa put Silly Putty in both of my (9 & 2 1/2 y/o)girls' stockings. I watched my nieces (9 & 11) for 2 days ~ sleepovers & all. Anyway, there is now a little bit of Silly Putty stuck to part of my couch. Any ideas on how to get it off?

What can I do next?

My daughter got some in our carpet, and Goo Gone worked pretty well. It took some time and patience though.

EEK! I don't think I've had silly putty stuck before, but I have had gum stuck to fabrics. With gum, I've put an ice cube on it to work with it easier. Then, pick at it to "chip" it off, instead of trying to work with really gummy texture.

With clothing, I've used Goof Off to get gum off, but I'd be more cautious using it on furniture. You can't just toss it in the laundry afterwards, so if the ice doesn't work and you want to use the Goof Off, I'd definitely test it on an unseen part of the couch, first. Make sure you'll be able to get not only the silly putty off, but the Goof Off as well. I'd only use it as a last resort and after you've been able to apply it and rinse it out enough that you can't see where you dabbed it on.

Good luck!

I had this happen to me and a friend of mine told me to use hand sanatizer. Worked like a charm. The silly putty came right off and the sanitizer didn't harm the fabric at all
