Getting Rid of That Tummy

well i wanna know briefly from some moms who have gotten back to their original prebirth weight(or close enough) what they did to get it back

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

o.k. i have to mention that Laura B's advice on toning the tummy was the best advice I've gotton. i not only posted this request on this site but several other sites as well and talked to a personal trainer. a personal trainer will tell you to do crunches then sit ups, this takes a long time to see desired results, and the results are mostly in the upper tummy area (and we all know the real problem is in that area right underneath the belly button) Laura's advice was too tighten these muscles while doing an aerobic exercise, I've realized that this is the best way because i actually have results from it, while i didnt get any from the other ways. I was fitting tightly into my pants now they fit fine, and there were no other changes in my routine or diet. i would assume this is about an inch in less than a month, although i didnt measure(and i have not decreased my sodium or water intake)i also flex these muscles periodically during the day in the car, watching t.v., or on the computer, and i forget i am doing it it is so easy. to be more specific i have seen the directions on how to tighten these muscles on another website and i think this was the best way of describing it was this "pretend you are wearing tight pants with a broken button and you must clench your abdomen to prevent the zipper from going down" you have to concentrate on your breathing when you are doing this and cardio but its worth it.

You may want to try the Tupler technique. She (Julie Tupler) explains in her DVD all about the different muscles and about diastesis, and explains why people have such a hard time getting rid of the mummy tummy. She even states that doing sit-ups may do more harm than good. WEB MD have an article about her technique....

Hello A.,
Congrats on the weight loss! Have you tried pilates for the tummy? It works on the core area of the body along with everything else. Good luck.

First of all congrats on loseing the 50lbs. I'm still working on it. My son just turned a year old and I'm finally on a great workout schd. I fell into a deep depression after his birth. I'm slowly seeing some results. I have found that doing localized exercises (ie:crunches) doesn't get rid of the tummy. During your work out and troughout the day keep your abs. in a contracted state. It is working for me. I try and walk 4 miles at least 4-5 times a week and as I walk I keep my abs tight, it's like doing crunches all day and helps you have good posture:) Now, about toning wobbly arms....I know a few exercises but I would like to hear your advice:) I hope the info helps.
