I know that this might sound stupid, but i cant remember when you are trying fruits for the first time (after you have tried all the veggies).. Do u stop doing the veggies, or do you give them both...

How many times a day should my 5 month old be eating stage one foods? Is it just once a day for lunch or can he have it for dinner as well.. I just cant remember.

What can I do next?

Just once a day. He should still be getting 90% of his nutrition from breastmilk or formula. Solids are just for playing/tasting for the first year

Hi K., I got this great little sched from Similac. 5-6 mos, Breakfast 2-3 tbsp cereal 6-8 oz milk MidMorning: 2-4 tbsp fruit Lunch: 2-4 tbsp veggies, 1-2 tbsp cereal, 6-8 oz milk Midafternoon: 6-8 oz milk Dinner: 2-4 tbsp veggies, 1-2 tbsp cereal 6-8 oz milk

I hope that helps, as with all things like this, they are just a guideline. I have been working up to a modified schedule, but refer to this just to see if I am on track. You know your baby best.

Hi K.~
With all of my boys, I introduced fruits and veggies together, but one at a time to check for reactions. I've never found it to be true that the fruits will make them dislike the veggies. As soon as I started my youngest on solids, he transitioned himself to 3 meals/day with an extra liquid feeding in the evening. As long as baby is getting enough breastmilk/formula, the solids schedule is up to you. I always feed a bottle first so I know he is getting all the nutrition he needs, then feed him the solids. That sometimes means he doesn't finish the baby food, but that's okay.
Good luck!

I always started with cereal then introduced a fruit with the it. ( not in it) Then after a bit i did fruit/cereal in the morning. and veggie and a fruit (they already tried) in the evening. That way they still got bottles during the day. Sometimes they would even take a bottle after breakfast and dinner too. There is 2 different stories that go out about feeding baby food.... when how what ...... If u go by places like WIC they say ur baby shouldn't have any food until 6 months old cause of the whole babies gaining weight to fast. Alls i have to say is.... are they there with a screaming hungry baby when a bottle an't enough??? I have also heard that started foods early helps with food allergies. Kids are coming out with less food allergies when they start food sooner as babies. So who knows what is right lol My thing is... every mother knows what their baby needs or wants. If that baby is hungry they are goin to cry for that extra bottle. My youngest i started on cereal at 2 months old off of a spoon cause he had really bad reflex and the solids help him keep formula down and he wasn't hungry as often. I also had to limit his food tooo some cause he seem to just want to eat and eat and eat. (still does at 15 months old and skinny as bones lol) My girls i never had to limit. so to me i think its goes with what the baby needs/wants and a mothers intuition. Who knows the babies best????

It really doesnt matter. the nutrition is from the formula or breast milk. the food is just practice. I did one meal a day until 7 months. then 2 meals until 9 months and then 3 meals a day..

he can have food twice a day but make sure that he still gets enough formula

try fruits after they have finished trying all veggies. You can introduce fruits and have the veggies at the same time. I always gave a fruit with breakfast, veggie at lunch and both at supper time.

Once my daughters were ready for fruits I would feed them twice a day. One meal with fruit and one with veggies, or a little of both at each meal. After I went through the fruits, I would go to 3 times a day. Lunch, Dinner, and cereal before bed. As they got older I would give them cereal for breakfast, and two stage 2 for lunch and dinner, and so on until they were old enough for stage 3 or table food.
