Getting Chlorine Smell of Skin

Ok so I know how to get the chlorine out of hair, but what about the smell of your skin. We swim 3-5 times per day and the chlorine smell just lingers on our skin-does anyone know how to get the smell off? We shower and scrub and I put lotion on so our skin is not so dry and the smell is still there? Thanks in advance for any info. L.:)

What can I do next?

HI L.,
Just a thought...the skin is an organ, much like your liver or heart. Anything you put on your body can be absorbed into your body, even chlorinated water. I am suspecting if your family is spending that much time in a chlorinated pool that their bodies may be absorbing it. The only thing that comes to mind is to invest in a shower filter that removes chlorine (because our drinking/showering water both have chlorine in them). Additionally, I would be sure to encourage everyone to drink a lot of water afterwards so their bodies can eliminate the chlorine.

You didn't say where you swim, but I am assuming it is in your backyard? And you have problems getting the chlorine smell off your children as well as you? Sounds like your pool is over-chlorinated. Get a test kit and make sure you are maintaining the right levels, following the directions carefully. If you use a pool service, complain to them. My brother is a pool guy and he says it shouldn't smell, if it is done properly. If they don't agree, I would look for a new service. And, consider getting rid of the chlorine all together. You will have to put chem out in the pool and wait until all the chlorine is gone before converting. Actually, ask at your pool supply store. I have only done it with a 7,000 gallon above ground pool, and we let all the water out and started over. You don't want to do that with an in ground pool, being empty can damage it. Anyway, it is called Swimsoft, or the ABC system, and it uses Amonia, Biguanide, and Peroxide (the C) instead of Chlorine. You have to maintain it religiously, it is a good algae preventer, but won't bring an algae overgrown pool back to clean like chlorine does. You still use the Murriatic Acid ocassionally too. We did it for years and loved it. Much healthier. There are other ways to go chlorine fee, (like salt water), but you have to do them when you build the pool.

Arbonne SeaSource Detox Wash! I use it on my kids head to toe, hair & all after swimming (and daily in the shower myself). How it works: "Negatively charged SEA botanicals (in skin care or the ocean) attract positively charged toxins underneath the skin and pulls them out like a magnet."

We have our pool guy use liquid chlorine and I don't have that issue. I would have him switch and see if it helps. Sounds like it may be over chlorinated too.

Hi there!
your answer is simple as this;
fill a 5 gallon bucket with water and drop thre fistfulls of Arm & hammer baking soda, give it a few stirs, rinse your whole body with it and dry, OR, then rinse again with running water then dry with a towel.( you will find out yoiu dont need a deodorant for that day!
this has worked for me even removing the henna smell after i color my hair with it.Also, if used to rinse your mouth will help rid of bad mouth smell too.

I don't think you do. I was on swim team for almost 10 years, and just had to get used to it.

Hi,

The problem is that the chlorine in the pool actually chemically modifies your hair/body at the molecular level. There is a product called "SwimSpray" that fixes this problem and lets you stay with your preferred brand of shampoo/conditioner. See www.SwimSpray.com

Good luck,
A.

Hi L..

The answer to getting the chlorine out of BOTH your hair and skin is to rinse with vitamin C. The vitamin C neutralizes the chlorine. The best way to accomplish this is to use a vitamin C spray like SwimSpray. www.SwimSpray.com
