Hello everyone,

My son will be 3 this week and I'm planning a Bday party for him with mostly 3 and 4 year olds. Does anyone have any ideas on games they can play? we'll be outside in our back yard, but I don't have swings or anything like that, so I would like to find some sort of enterteinment for them.

Any advice will be appreciated.

What can I do next?

BUBBLES, BUBBLES AND MORE BUBBLES! Get the foot long bubble sticks, the bubbles combo packs (wands, pipes, etc.) and a couple 5 gallon buckets and let them go. Sometimes you can find the huge bubble wands (about a foot long) at the dollar store during the summer months, along with a couple gallons of bubbles. My son also enjoys the huge tic tac toe bean bag toss (although not everyone has the skill or enjoyment for it). Hope it gives you some ideas! Have a great Birthday Party!!!!

If you can take music out there, kids that age LOVE "freeze dancing." Play some fun, groovy music and every so often pause it. They dance when the music is playing, but freeze in place when the music stops. Another fun game I call Pirate's Booty. I made cards on 3X5 cards with some sort of instructions on them. Kids take turns to get up from the circle and draw a card. They have to do what the card says. You can either have them do individual things, like "j`ump up high and wiggle" or have the whole group do it together. I follow the pirate theme by having a "Captain's coming" card (for a stand up straight and salute) a "hit the deck!" (for lay on your tummy quickly) Another fun thing to do is fill a few rubbermaid flat boxes or dish tubs with sand, dirt, or something similar and bury the pieces to a puzzle in it. Have the kids work together to dig the pieces out and then put it together. If you have two or more, they can race. Also, one piece of advice I have learned the hard way: If you play games like duck, duck, goose or especially musical chairs, always have a gift, like a lollipop, to give the kid as he or she gets "out" so they don't cry and feel left out.

You can rent one of those bouncers or slides. I know of a place out here called American Bouncers, don't know the # tho. I want to say it's here in Solon or Bedford possibly? Or a pinata is always a good idea. Coloring? duck, duck goose?

A peanut hunt is fun. Just throw peanuts in the shell around your back yard. Give them each a paper bag and send them hunting. If they don't find them all - it does not matter as the squirrels will!

Get a large sheet. Have the kids hold the edges all around. Then put a stuffed animal in the middle. Have them all begin shaking the sheet to bump off the stuffed animal. They will do this over and over again!
