Fun Places in Waltham Area

Hi Moms,
I'm looking for new playgrounds or "hidden gems" in the area. I don't mind a bit of a drive. It would be nice to have a change of scenery for places to go this summer. I'd also love to hear about free/low cost ideas for fun things to do with the kids. (My kids are 4 and 2)

Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

On nice days you could go to Walden Pond, straight up 117 from Waltham. I don't think there is a charge but if there is it's pretty small. On rainy days you could go to the discovery muesum in Acton, it's not that expensive and they have activities for chidren of different ages. Their website is http://discoverymuseums.org/

There is a great super fun spray playground in watham - it's free! I can't remember what it's called, but my kids had a blast.

There's a fantastic tot lot playground in Sudbury - the Atkinson playground. The Hanna Williams playground on rt 27 in Wayland is also a lot of fun.

For $35 you can get a season pass to the state parks. We take our children swimming at lake cochitchuate all the time. You could also go to Hopkinton state park. If you don't want to spend the $35, it's only $5 to park per visit.

Drumlin Farm in Lincoln is fun, but can get pricy. Codman farm is cheaper and has some good animals to check out.

I have to run, but if I think of anything else, I'll edit. Do check out bostoncentral.com (org?) They have a really good list.

There are a few water parks: one on Newton St, one off of Lexington St near the track, one by the Fitzgerald school, one on the corner of Willow and something else (there are tennis courts and a big field too).
