Fun Places for Toddlers

I have a 15 month old daughter and I get her together with another mom and her daughter around the same age. We are located near Sugarland and we are always looking for fun activities for the girl's to do, but things for their age. We have gone to the zoo and things for playdates, but I didn't know if anyone knew of other places in the Houston area, we are willing to drive, that is age appropriate for the girl's to do things??

What can I do next?

Unforuntelty most of the places I was going to suggest are no longer available due to hurricane Ike like Moody Gardens or the Kemah Boardwalk. But a lot of the moonwalk places around town have Toddler Times during the day, also Chic-fil-a's have a great playground for toddlers and usually have other activities for young kids during the day as well. Check with your community parks and recreation center, I live in Pearland and ours has TONS of cool classes for young toddlers that are fun and very reasonably priced.

We used to go to the mall which has a play area inside. If you go early enough, there are usually age appropriate children there. However, if you go too close to lunch time, there are too many big kids.
Also, we go to toddler time at the library. They read stories, sing songs, and do a little coloring craft. The hour concludes with toys and bubbles---at least at my library in Missouri City. The kids really enjoy it.
Recently, we went to the Wildlife Refuge Park in Alvin. You ride a tram all around this huge park and all sorts of animals come up to the tram to get food. It was pretty neat. Just watch out for the emus---they practically get in your car looking for food!

When my kids were little, I remember taking them to FunPlex. It is located somewhere in the Alief area I believe. It had an indoor train and ferris wheel for the little ones. It also had an outdoor water park, movie theater, bowling, bumper cars. I also took them frequently to the Aquatic Park in sugar land which is very close to Austin Parkway Elementary school. Another good place is the library. Once a week the Sugar Land branch library had a reading for younger kids and afterward they had a craft project relating to the book.

I have a 14-month-old little girl and live in Sugar Land. Some of the things we do are Toddler Time at the library Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:15 (I think until the First Colony Branch opens back up, the Sugar Land branch will have an 11:15 class too.) First Colony mall has a Toddler area near the food court and JC Penney. The mall also has some fun stores for kids. Barnes and Noble has a huge kiddie area to explore too. Sugar Land Town Square is a fun place to stroll around, shop, have lunch and play. You can let the girls run around the front of city hall. And during the summer they open up a Children's Museum. Now that the weather is getting nice, some good parks with playgrounds are Oyster Creek off of Highway 6. In my neighborhood in Commonwealth, there is a wonderful park on Castlewood. It is shaded, has toddler friendly equipment and a huge grassy area for them to run around. There is also a duck pond nearby. I take my little girl there every day. If you and your friend and little girls ever want to check it out, send me a message and we will meet you there!
