Fun PC Games for Kids?

I posted a while ago that I was considering getting a game console for Christmas - well DH isn't really too keen on buying one, the argument being that we already have a computer and a roku hooked up to the TV. Well I sort of agree and was wondering if I could just get away with buying some controllers and PC games - but it seems that all the "fun" kid games are only made for consoles.

Do you know of any "fun" pc games for kids. Not necessarily educational but actual fun games the entire family may enjoy? I am thinking console type games...DD is 5 so they should be rated E.

Thanks

Minecraft.

Its probably the most popular game in Seattle (and many places in the world)... And its a PC/mac game! They've VERY recently come out with console/mobile versions... But they're not as good. It was designed for PC/Macs.

We've had it since beta testing... Which means 2+ years, and looooove it.

______

The other PC games we have are all educational: ClueFinders is our favorite one (lots of different ones 3,4,5,6th grade plus extra adventures)

Plants vs. Zombies is great. My whole family loved it. It's a cartoonish game where the zombies try to get to your house and the plants have various defensive powers to stop them. you choose what to plant and where to plant it and the various types of zombies walk across the screen to try to get to your house.

All my kids love minecraft too.

Webkinz has some fun games for kids too.

My 6 year old plays the first two, but I haven't seen her play webkinz, so I'm not sure if it is easy for a 5 year old to play.

I don't really know about PC games, but I would recommend PBS Kids Play. It's a set of educational games (which requires online access) and my son LOVES them. You also have access to some of the PBS TV shows. It's a monthly subscription fee and right now it's on sale for $4.95 per month.

Honestly, my son is only 3 and a half so we've not dug deep into the content, but I can tell it's customized to his age and it's great at tracking his progress and advancing the content to match his growing skill set.

It's geared to kids through first grade, so your daughter might not get much out of it, but you could do the trial period for free and see if she likes it.
