We are celebrating my sons 5th bday and I need some neat game ideas (not lengthy) simple yet fun. We are having a Sponge Toy Bob Story party (aka Sponge Bob and Toy Story) this is what he wants and I have no beef about it..We own the Toy Story 3 bouncer (bc we have a bounce house business) so we are doing that with Sponge Bob decor and a little bit of TS decor too. I cant wait! our yard is not very big and his bday is in Oct (early part) so ideas ideas I need some..Thanks! and gift bag ideas too.. I want to make this HUGE this is also kindergarten year.

What can I do next?

I think pin the tail on the donkey and muscial chairs would be good games to play with some adult interaction.

honestly with the bounce house you really don't need anything else!! what a lucky kid!!!
If you want organized games,i would do a version of
pin the tail on the donkey
hot potato --pass an object when the music stops you clap for the winner
musical chairs--I like to have the kids walk around hula hoops or tball bases and then as you take the bases or hoops away the kids have to squeeze together to all fit on the base or hoop until only one base is left and all the kids are squeezed together trying to hold each other and stay on it.
relay races
obstacle course

If i were you since you have the bounce house, i would just have a table for crafts-- get fun foam stick things, or stickers and paper, or a huge roll of paper so the kids could draw a doodle mural, playdough would work, coloring books etc and just keep it unstructured, bounce a while, draw a while etc.

ideas for favors--hmmmm i wouldn't recommend a candy pinata lol
gift certs for icecream or happy meals passes to your bounce house stuff?

What about the game where the kids dunk a sponge (get yellow for SpongeBob) in a bucket of water ten have to race across to another cup and squeeze it out to fill the cup to a certain line? This would be a fun team game.

A "treasure hunt" would be fun, too. You could make up simple clues and lead them all around the yard to find the next clue. You don't really need a ton of space, just creativity!

You could make cardboard jelly fish with paperclips on them and then a fishing pole with a magnet so the kids could go "jellyfishing" (I know Sponge Bob uses a net, but same idea?) and maybe each jelly fish has points assigned, so they add up the points from say 4 jelly fish, or however meny they catch in 1 minute.

It sounds like fun! Enjoy! Just remember that often it is the parents that stress out when the kids will have fun no matter WHAT we plan!

One thing that we do for fall parties is to hang powder donuts on strings, hang them on a broomstick handle or dowel over their heads and they have a race to see who can eat their donut first. No hands, of course! I also like the idea of decorating small pumpkins, then that's also a treat that they can take home. Have fun!

My 8 year old had games from " A minute to win it" His favorite was putting a cookie on his forehead and moving it to his mouth to catch it. Everyone can do it at the same time. We had all ages at his party and the 3 year old won that one. The 5 year old won the game where you put a little water in water bottles and toss them on a table the first one to stand on up wins. of course all this takes about a minute each game.

- pumpkin patch - get a small pumpkin for each kid, markers, stickers, etc.
- halloween costume contest - have kids wear a mask of their fav. toy story or SpongeBob character
- potato sack race

You could also do toy story/spongebob inspired school supplies.

you can adjust typical party games to fit the theme - so maybe something like "Pin the hat on Woody" instead of pin the tail on the donkey, freeze dancing or musical chairs with music from spongebob or toy story (if you don't have chairs, use a bunch of cardboard squares instead of chairs and take one square out after each round),
For gift bags - I'm not fond of the little knicknacks that just end up cluttering the house and getting stepped on, so my vote would be for practical but fun things like crayons/coloring books, sidewalk chalk, pencils and erasers.

I agree with another poster that says the bounce house is plenty, I am going to steal the "Minute to win it" game idea, GREAT idea, I suggest a craft instead of a gift bag, you can have the kids make t-shirts with leaves or hand prints on it, paint terra cotta flower pots and plant a flower, or make stepping stones (I used tin pans, 30 minute quick set cement, those flat marble things) with the kids handprints and names and dates in them.....enjoy the party

Someone gave me the idea of filling up 4-5 bowls or sand buckets with things like fruit snacks, pencils, bubbles. yo-yo's ect. Make a treat bag for each kid and let them choose 2-4 prizes as they leave the party. No parent likes all the "junk" in thegift bags, so might as well let the kids have a little fun with it.

Have been to a party where the parents made up a trivia game about the birthday child. Questions like, what color are Mary's eyes? What grade is Mary in? What is Mary's favorite kind of ice cream? Depending on the ages, you can have the kids write down their answers on a pre-made up question sheet or just have them shout it out. Person who knows the b-day kid the best wins :)

Because the timing is October, you could prob get plastic pumpkins or ghosts & fill them with little treats and have a Halloween Hunt. Give each kid a bag and tell them they are allowed to find 3 things each....now you have a game AND a gift bag!!

The bounce house is great but you definitely need some structured games. Pin the Hat on Woody is brilliant and musical chairs/musical statues or musical balloons (when you remove a balloon, the child who is out gets to pop the balloon) and my fave.... pass the parcel. Wrap a small prize in newspaper or wrapping paperthen add another prize and another layer until you know you have enough layers that each of the children will get a prize (I'm not a fan of the junk candy so i wrap chocolate minis between the layers. The children sit in a circle and while the mucis plays they "pass the parcel" when the music stops whoever is holding the parcel gets to rip off one layer and keep the prize this continues until the parcel is completed - it helps if the adult in charge of the music is watching ot ensure that every child gets to rip off a layer.

I think 3 games is sufficient at this age and if you are having a 2 hour party then you won't have time for a craft as well as the bounce castle (we will be having a craft at my daughters party coz we won't be bouncing). Oriental trading is a good place to go for themed decorations/gifts/plates etc.

Have fun.
