Fun/Cheap Ideas for Play Date

Hello mommies out there...I'm needing some ideas for different things for my friend and I and our kiddos to do each week. Her baby is a year and a half, and mine are almost 5 and 3. Each week we usually meet at the great mall and let the kids play, but it's starting to become redundant and we're trying to come up with different things to do each week that's inexpensive and will keep all three kids occupied. We've visited Deanna Rose and plan to take the kids to power play (in their Kid Zone), but I can't think of anything else everyone would have fun doing. Do you have any ideas? I'll take anything I can get. She lives in Olathe and I live in KCK, so we're trying to take turns going either direction or meet in the middle. Thanks a bunch!

What can I do next?

Hi Cory. I believe on KCParent.com they have a link with all sorts of things to do on playdates or diff. parks to go to. I hope this helps.

Antioch Park is really a fun place for the kids. They have a little pond to walk around and they have a great playground with little play houses made to look like a western town. Antioch Park is at 67th and Antioch right off of I-35 so it should be a "meet in the middle" destination.

hay C., i have a few suggestions you all could have cooking parties at one of you guys houses something as simple as cheese pizza made out of biscuts, chicken wraps, cookies, or cupcakes. you could also set up one of the houses and have a art party you could get wonder paint (paint that only markes on the special paper). they have finger paint, paint brushes, and markers. you would need to get the special paper hang it on the wall or put it o the floor. i have one more suggestion it also involves art. you could go to an art store and purchase one of their larger size picture mats(so that teh children can make art work for you to hang in the house). get them some paint and let them go at it. when they are done hang the photo on the wall any where in the house.

I use visitkc.com; it's the visitor's center website for KC and you can go to their event calendar and un-check any events you're not interested in, the rest will be summarized into a calendar for you. All the events include the admission(if any) and a description etc. Lot's of family friendly free stuff!
