Hi I was wondering if anyone has the LG brand front load washer? Do you like it? We are possibly going to purchase a new machine and I'd like to buy a dependable one. Any thoughts?? Do you love yours? What brand to you have? Thanks

What can I do next?

Hi C., I have had front loaders for probably the last 5 years, and I ABSOLUTELY love them. The 'pump' just went out on the washer, which my husband ordered over the internet, and replaced himself, (which he can do most everything, I have been extremely fortunate for). But the washer uses very low amounts of water, and you use very little detergent (high efficiency=HC detergent) and they clean the clothes really well. (I always add a little Borax to each load, because we do have a well and septic). So, I have had a very good experience with them. I only wish I had had them when I raised my four daughters! (two of which still live at home). I have Sears brands, which are actually made by Maytag. J. C. lactation consultant. see my add @ this site, if you like

I have the LG with the steam fresh on it. I have had it about 3 months now and LOVE IT....my neighbor bought one about a year ago and she loves it too. We both have the steam fresh on it. Hers does leave her clothing more wrinkled while mine does not. I think they changed something because I just LOVE mine....and I am a mom with 3 boys who just LOVE to get dirty. My eldest is a hockey player and I wash his his pants and chest protector in them (cant do that in a top loader) and my neighbor washers her sons football stuff and we both agree it is excellent for cleaning that stuff!

Hello C.,
We bought the red LG washer and dryer from Home Depot in May. I use my set daily. I have a cleaning business so I have towels and such I need to wash in addition to our family laundry. We have not had any trouble with them and I really like them. We stacked them to free up some room in the laundry room which is also the entryway from the garage. I have noticed a smell from the washer but I have not noticed that smell transferring to my laundry, however I do use the washer daily. It may need to have the door left open to get some air. That isn't an option for me because it is in the entryway from the garage. I have had trouble with jeans being wrinkled on the lower leg part when I take them from the dryer but I've not noticed any other things being wrinkled any more than from a traditional set. Best of luck to you in finding what is right for you. There are too many options. I just hope that it lasts as long as my other set, they were still working after 17 years of use. We upgraded so we could save energy and keep up with the higher laundry demands from the business use.

Good Luck, W.

I have had the LG set for a little over a year and love it.

Here are my only complaints (from my own experience):

When you're through washing, you need to leave the washer door open or it will start to smell musty. I noticed this after a few months and then talked to other users who had the same issue. The seal on the door is so good that it doesn't allow the moisture inside to dry out if you close it up.

If you use the "prewash" cycle you have to use powdered detergent (at least on my model). Not a big deal but now I have to keep a box of powder on hand for when I use that cycle.

The washer spins the clothes out so well, that you need to shake them out before putting them into the dryer. The tumbling of the dryer alone isn't enough to shake out the tight wrinkles. I only do this with nicer clothes, not with towels, sheets, etc.

The added convenience of the large loads, and some of the nice added features, make the little quirks more than ok with me. It does a great job and makes my life a little easier. If you do get any frontloading washer, be sure to get the pedestal drawers for underneath - huge help. Some of my in-laws have the LG's too and love 'em...

Let me know if you have any specific questions. I'd be glad to try to help.

I'm not sure about the LG, but we recently purchased the Frigidaire Affinity front load washer and dryer and have NOT been happy with them at all. The washer stinks even though we leave the door open between washings; the odor is really bad on freshly washed towels and when washing small loads I have to use the spin only feature 2 or 3 times to get the water out. Also, nothing comes out of the dryer that isn't BADLY wrinkled, even if I untangle everything before putting it in. Pant legs are always completely twisted and my husbands sport shirts always need to be ironed. I wish we would have just puchased a higher end "normal" washer and dryer.

Replaced my 6 year old Maytag Neptune frontloader with an LG Frontloader about a year ago. I absolutely love it and would repurchase it again in a blink of an eye. It doesn't get musty smelling and EVERYTHING comes out clean.

I have other Kenmore Elite products and would trust them probably as well if you wanted less expensive, but I would run like crazy from Maytag. Maytag man doesn't go out on calls because when they do make a product that needs fixing they don't back it. Neptune owners had to file a class action lawsuit to get them to do anything about the $1400 washing machines that were purchased. When I called to try and get them to fix mine they pretty much said, "we only have a one year warranty, sorry".

Good luck, but I guarantee you'll love the LG and they are built SOLID. Make sure you work hands on with whichever one you are thingking about buying. Open and close doors, etc. It will give you a feel for how they are made. I am also a firm believer with appliances that you get what you pay for.

Hi there!

Just had my Kenmore Elite front loading washer/dryer delivered this week. So far, so good! Easy to use, really quiet and clothes come out smelling super clean! They replaced 7 year old Maytag washer and dryer which we were really never impressed with. The delivery guy from Sears said that the Kenmore seem to be really popular because he's been delivering quite a few. We followed the recommendations from Consumer Reports on this purchase.

Good luck :)

C., I have a Fisher&Paykel and I absolutley love it!! They come with a two year program if anything goes wrong the company replaces it. Mine loads from the top but is a HE washer. (Uses half the water and has a bigger tub then regular uprights) It beats out so much of the water that I use half the drying time. Mine was 530 on sale it was the lowest priced one. They also have front loading ones too. They are made in the USA too!! I purchased mine at Lowes. They said that once people get one they never change brands. Happy hunting! M.

Hello! We have the front loading TROM models of LG and I love them! They use less water and wash clothes better. There are about six or seven wash cycles to chose from and you can customize your own cycle and program it in the machine. I have not had any issues with them (we've had them almost three years).
