I have a question for one of my friends. She is in her mid 30's and experiancing menstral issues. She has a period twice a month the first 2 days of it she has to wear both a tampon and a pad to help with the excessive flow and sometimes that isn't even enough. She has severe cramps and her body just aches. She has gone to her doctor and they put her on birth control pills. She took them for a while and they did not help so she stopped taking them. She now is experiancing pain when she tries to use a tampon. She goes to a primary care doctor and recently found out that doctor is no longer with our insurance so she made an appointment with the new doctor but has had to cancel her annual appointment due to the excessive periods. What do you ladies suggest she does? Oh and the previous doctor would not give her a hysterectamy due to her age and no other complications.

What can I do next?

I would try to get to gyn/ob as soon as you can. Your friend may have uternie (?) fibroids. They can give you heavy periods, severe cramping, etc..

I hope your friend gets the help she needs.
P.S. If she does have fibroids (severe) one of the treatments is a hysteromtomy (sp?)

Your friend needs to see a GYN, not a primary car physician for this kind of problem. There could be a lot of different things causing this problem. A Gynecologist is usually specialized in this type of stuff and will know more what to look for and how to react. Doctors can do the annual exam weather or not a period is present. they just prefer to do it when there isn't. She should never cancel her annual because of her period. The doctor can then see what she is talking about when she says excessive bleeding. Maybe then they will get off their butts and try to order an ultrasound to find out the cause.

She needs to see a gynecologist who can do an ultrasound and see what's going on in there. I had similar symptoms and I had fibroids and endometriosis. I had a hysterectomy in my early 40s. Best thing I ever did for myself.

I have similar problems. My OBGYN wanted to do a uterine ablation so we did all the necessary ultrasounds and found out that my uterine lining is 172mm and it is suppose to be only 40mm. Thus I have to have a D and C on the 23rd. We are fighting the insurance for them to also cover an ablation. I would say get in with an OBGYN as soon as you can. They will be able to help you the most. Good Luck

She should get an appointment from a gynecologist, to find out what may be causing the heavy periods and what can be done.
