Gmail hosts free blogs at blogspot.com. It is great. I started a blog as a sort of baby album that I could easily share with family and friends. You can also sign up for google analytics, also free, which will track who visits your site, which is usually fun too.

I use a site called easysite. You can upload photos for free and write news and events about your family. Or you can get the whole kit and kaboodle for 4.95 per month. E-mail me personally and I will be happy to share my family site with you.

Have you tried myspace.com? I have my profile set to private so no one that isn't on my friends list can see my personal photos information etc. I just loaded a vidoe today! It's a great way to stay in touch with those you love.

I have used Tripod in the past to build websites for non profit org. They are super easy to use. They literally walk you through the process. So there isn't any guess work. It is addictive. I have found that I actually enjoy building the sites. Yes, it is completely free. You can purchase a .com from them if you should chose later on. You can add pages such as a journal for your kids, photo album, blog, home page or whatever.
