Four Months Pregnant with a Really Bad Cold.
I have a really bad cold I caught from my husband. I feel just awful. My throat hurt, my nose is just dripping and everyone time I sneeze, my belly hurt. I've just been drinking lots of decaf green tea with honey to help soothe my throat. Is there anything I can take that is safe for the baby?
So What Happened?™
Thanks!
I finally went to the doctor and he told me to take Tylenol Cold Mulit-Symptom. I've been taking it for the past two days, and it seems to be helping.

Well,
I know that when you are pregnant there aren't many choices of medicine. You may want to ask the doctor about this, but when I was pregnant my Doctor prescribed me sudafed. It was a really low dose but it helped.
Good luck. Let me know if this helped.

My midwife suggests echinacea and vitamin C to bowel tolerance for 5 days. Also, saline spray to clear the nasal passages, eucalyptus oil on the chest and bridge of nose, and marshmallow root tea as an expectorant.
Oh, and FYI, there is no. medication that is *PROVEN* safe for an unborn baby. The Tylenol family is considered low risk, but not entirely safe. It is either Class B or C for pregnancy.
Peace,

I had the worst cold/throat infection and for the first time I tried an old remedy and it worked so well it was incredible.
Honey & lemon hot tea. Honey first, then the hot water, then cut a real lemon (about 1/2 lemon per cup) and squeeze into cup and then put the cut lemon slices in the cup too. Drink while hot. Drink at least two cups a day (I drank in the morning and at night, when my throat felt the worst). It was so soothing, my throat which originally felt like it was on fire every time I swallowed, and I felt an ear infection coming on, it was all gone in about two days.
You can also do a gargle with warm/hot salt water. That helps alot too.
Feel better soon!

Plain Sudafed-the little red ones. Also it's hot tea with fresh squeezed lemon for the throat. That's what my doctor prescribed when I had larenjtus ( I can't spell that)

You can gargle with salt water to help your throat feel better. I would call my OB/GYN to find out what I could take for the runny nose and sneezing that would not hurt the baby. You may also want to go and be checked just because I have heard that strep thoat is going around in that Jacksonville area. I don't know what area you live in so I don't know if this would effect you or not.
Good luck and I hope that you get to feeling better soon.

There are safe over-the-counter cold medicines you can take. Ask your doctor. I was allowed to take Sudafed non-drowsy. I also used a nasal spray.

My Dr. lets me take plain Sudafed or Tylenol Cold. He is the chief of ObGYN at Hollywood Memorial. THey have proven these meds safe for the baby and believe that an extremely ill mom can give the baby diress so they'd prefer to treat you with safe meds so you are well again. You can call them and ask. THeir phone # is ###-###-####.
