I have a almost 4 month old beautiful baby girl. I just weaned her off breastfeeding due to my own health issues that required me to stop. I prefer not to receive any responses about why breastfeeding is best. I agree but an unable to continue & do not wish to get in to it as it was hard to accept & now that I have & am moving on, I do not need to cause more discussion on this hard subject for me.
SO I am inquiring on formulas that you like & dislike. My daughter is on Enfamil gentle-ease since she had a lot of gas & fussiness & because there is a lactose allergy in our family we choose to try this. The only other one we tried was parents choice organic which did not seem to digest well with here & that is when we switched to gent-lease. I would much rather be on a formula that is the closeted to breastmilk as possible & that is organic & with the least amount of extra chemicals or food addidtives/preservatives...if you will. So keeping those preferences n mind please share what you have learned in your experience.
Thank you!

I tried Enfamil and Similac and both gave my daughter gas and seemed to upset her tummy a lot. I switched the Nestles Soy Formula and it was the best thing I ever did. She was immediately happier and slept longer. The whole thing about Soy staining wasn't true for me. The regular formula stained her clothes yellow and Soy was similar to breastmilk in that is didn't stain at all (added bonus).

Hi J.,

I started on Similac Sensitive with my daughter since she had a lot of spit-ups. It was past 3 months I switched to Similac Advance. Since new concerns came up, it looks like I might be switching to a soy-based formula milk for my daughter soon.

Hi J.,

I like Similac Advance With DHA and ARA. My son had major tummy issues and this one was the one that he liked the best. It also doesn't have that horrible smell when they burp--some formulas just stink! I also wanted to say that I think its wonderful that you breastfed and I know just how hard it is to be forced to stop when you want to continue--- good for you to do it!!

Good luck!

Molly

Hi J.,

Both of my kids were formula fed - both are healthy, happy and smart. Please try not to worry. (I know, easier said than done).

Both of my kids drank soy formula. We used Similac soy with my daughter, the first child. Our son drank Similac soy for a while, but then we switched to Member's Mark soy, the Sam's Club brand and every so often used Target brand too.

I did find that the soy formula seems to stain things yellow. Even bleach didn't help. Use lots of bibs and burp rags. I suggest non-white.

By the way, when it came time for regular milk, my daughter did just fine, my son did not - he was, and continues to be lactose intolerant - a family trait. He drinks Lactaid brand milk. Oddly, he doesn't like soy milk.

Good luck!

P.S. I don't think there was organic soy formula when my kids needed it so I don't have any advice about that.

J.,
Our son was on Enfamil since he was born, we used DHA with iron, but we looked at all labels and found it to be Enfamil being the best. Even his peditrician recommended it.
So we stuck with it. We tried to switch to something similar but our son didn't react well, so we stuck to enfamil.

Best of luck to you and Congratulations on your new little bundle of joy...

It really depends so much on the things you mentioned and which formula your child tolerates best. In our situation, we went with the one we knew we could get at Costco -- Similac Advance -- and that guided our decision. Fortunately, both of our kids did great on this brand. I think all brands are striving to be as close to breastmilk as possible, so I'm not sure you'll find dramatic differences among the brands. The other qualities you mention involve checking labels more than anything.
