Formula Preference.

Hello mom, do you have a formula preference? I have a 3 weeks old and I am trying to introduce a formula. Thank you!

What can I do next?

When I switched my kids from breastmilk to formula, I used Similac and none of my kids had any issues with it. I honestly didn't try any other brands. I just loved the $5 off coupons I got for Simliac :)

I have an 11 week old. I started out BF and formula (similac) until the recall. The recall really aggravated me- the stores were empty of what my daughter had gotten used to so I had to switch formulas altogether. I now use the Target store brand with nothing but good things to report. And it's considerably cheaper than the name brand.

Hi BC, my kids are older now 18, 16, 13, but they were all nursed for the most part. I was not a fornula hater however. Many people enjoyed feeding them and I did not ALWAYS have enough BM pumped, so all three of them had both breast and bottle. I mixed a teeny bit of formula to start, and eventually they all would easily nurse with mom and take a little bottle of formula from dad, Grandma, etc...

I just used plain old Similac and had no problems with it. My middle child was a preemie and was supplemented with Alimentum right from the start.
This was a long time ago of course, you have SO many choices now that weren't there for me.

Hope this helps!
Have a great day!

Talk to your pediatrician. We found that Carnation was a lot cheaper than the "big 2" (Similac and Enfamil) back when our kids were babies (10 years ago, lol). But I wasn't sure quality wise. Our doc told us that ALL the formulas have to meet the same safety and nutrition standards, so any of them are fine. Find one that your baby likes/tolerates (some babies need "specialized" formulas due milk allergies, etc) and a formulation (powder, premixed/canned) that works for you and your lifestyle.

The canned/premade ones tend to have a slightly different consistency than if you use powder and make your own... so whatever you decide on, if your baby is happy with it, they may not like it if you switch around on them. Powder costs less.
