FORMULA - Nestle Good Start V. Walgreens Brand

Would like feedback on the Walgreens Brand Formula - my 4 1/2 month old daughter has been on Nestle Good Start since weened from breastfeeding with no problem. Was recently shopping at Walgreens and while waiting on the baby isle for the formula case to be opened, noticed the Walgreens Brand Formula - the label indicates formula is compatible to Enfamil (same amounts of DHA/ARA - VERY IMPORTANT!)....not to mention the price difference ($25.00 Nestle Good Start compared to $14.00 Walgreens) I purchased the Walgreens formula and have not had a problem, however would like feedback - pros/cons - thank you everyone :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you to everyone for their response and insight on store brand formula - I was extremely hesitant in trying the store brand thinking there is no way store brand was as good as the name brand formula AND at a much lower price??!! We will be saving approx $560.00/year!! It's a relief to know it is in fact true and other Mom's have had success with store brand as I have :)

If you're looking for the cheapest formula with the same DHA/ARA amounts as Enfamil, go to the WalMart brand (Parent's Choice). It's what I have been using for my 8 month old daughter over the past 5 months and she never even noticed a change... PLUS it costs less than $12 for the same size can! Good luck!

Generics are usually just as good as the others. I think there is also a generic for the Good Start but I'm not sure. When my daughter was a baby - good start was the formula I prefered and that's why I think there maybe be a generic. As long as your child isn't having any problems with the new formula I don't think you have anything to worry about.

We never used the Walgeens brand with my song, but we did use the Sams's Club brand and we compared the back of both the Enfamil and the Members mark cans and they are exactly the same, the ingredients were even listed in the exact same order. We switched my son from the Enfamil to the Members Mark and he did great on it. Good Luck!

My daughter was on Similac for 8 months, before we saw Member's Mark and compared the back. They were exactly the same, so we switched and wished we had found it a lot sooner! We saved so much money and my daughter had no problems switching at all. I would say as long as the back is comparable to what you are giving, go for it!

My son now 5 was on Good Start and I wouldn't use anything else also go to verybestbaby.com and sign up and they send you checks for up to $11 or more dollars off of there formula and so does enfamil now that I have a newborn now and have her on enfamil every penny saved counts hope this helps

I had asked my Pediatrician the same question(about other cheaper brands) and he said to go for it as long as it was DHA/ARA and comparable to Similac/Enfamil.

I have used Parents Choice Formula with both my kids. I found the website http://www.storebrandformulas.com/fda.html a few years back. It's helpful in answering questions on how all formulas are regulated and required by law to contain nutrients for your child. I wasn't sure about a cheaper formula at first, thinking that it wasn't going to be the same. The website basically told me it's the same thing at an affordable price.

There are standards that all manufactured baby formula must adhere to, so basically a generic can be the same as the more expensive formulas. We used Parent's Choice and had no problems, my toddler is super healthy so very smart. I'd say give the generic a go.
I wouldn't doubt if the generic is manufactured in the same place but just put in a different can...several types of generic products are made just like the name brand, just packaged differently.
