I can't believe I have done this, and now I feel so embarrassed. My children have their birthdays 3 days apart, and I decided to have a family party for both. It was my daughter's 1st birthday and my son's 11th. (yea, I know, she was a surprise!) We had about 15-20 family members and 5 of my son's friends. They all brought a gift and some brought gifts for each child. Afterwards, I made my son do his own thank you cards. He worked really h*** o* them, and I did mine and the ones for my daughter, especially thanking family members that would not have normally come. No one has said anything to me about it. Their birthday party was August 26.....so, guess what I find today while I am cleaning.......those stinkin cards, sealed, stamped, and everything. I don't know what happened, I thought that I mailed them.....I feel awful.
So here is my question.......do I write a note explaining why they are late and then mail them (which is going to require redoing the envelopes and buying new stamps....or do I just trash them? HELP !!!!

I personaly wouldn;t worry about it. I stopped doing thank you's for b-day parties because I felt it wasn;t worth the hassle. I tell everyone thank you while they are there and how much I appreciate them. You could just call the few that you feel like telling them personaly and tell them how much the kids enjoyed whateverthey got them and thank them for coming. But if not, I would say bye bye to the thnk you cards.

I agree with the other moms. I would just mail them out. We all know how busy life can be and how cluddered our houses can get.

I agree with the other girls to go ahead and mail them out now. I don't think an explanation is necessary either. With little ones it is hard to keep up with everything. I did the same thing when my daughter turned 2 and it was 6 months after her birthday that my thank you cards went out and noone ever questioned it. My outlook is better late than never.

I would just go ahead and stick them in the mail... they are all ready to go and you will have the peace of mind knowing that everyone has been thanked. You could also try to call a few of the people that wouldn't normally come to your children's birthday parties and let them know what happened. I am sure that the other mom's will understand, they have probably done the same thing before!

For bridal, graduations, baby showers, yes! For kids birthday parties, no way. I never get thank you cards for birthday parties and I never send them. Trust me, no one even thought about the fact they didn't send a thank you card. Save your stamp money!

Mail them out. All parents can appreciate busy lives. They will appreciate the THANK YOU no matter when they receive it. If you feel you need to explain, just write a short "sorry these are so late" on the seal of the envelope and then you can explain in person. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO SAY THANK YOU.

God Bless.

I would just mail them as they are, as you see or talk to the people make a joke about it, any one with kids will understand and at least you got them out. I must say all the times i mean to, not once have i sent thank you's. They know that i am thankfull.

Hi, I would go ahead and mail them. If you talk to some of these people on a regular bases then I would explain what happened if not I would just think of the smiles people will have on their faces when they open thank you cards. I would not bother with readdressing them and stamping them again. Just pop them in the mail..
Have a good day
