For Moms with Four or More Kids, how Do You Refer to Them?

This has been bugging me. I have three kids right now. I am prego with number four. Currently my 9yo is refered to as my oldest,my 6yo is my middle ,and my 18mo is my baby. I say this when talking to people who dont' really know the difference between my kids or don't know them at all. I have all boys. So when you have four what do you say? Do you just say my 9 yo or my 6yo? I know I have about a million other things to be worried about and I do but I am tired of thinking about heavy stuff so for today I am going to worry about small silly meaningless things. Thanks for your imput!

What can I do next?

First son, second son, youngest son, oldest daughter, youngest daughter.

I also have an age gap in mine, so I refer to them as "the bigs" and "the littles" - i.e. the littles need to pick up the living room, the bigs are going to the bowling alley. This allows me to disinguish who I am talking about without having to remember all their names. LOL

We have 5 kids. I call the oldest 3 the big kids (ages 10, 8, and 6) and the next 2 are the babies (ages 4 and 2). If I can't talk about them in groups, I refer to the 10 year old (a girl) as 'my oldest', the 8 year old is 'my oldest son', the 6 year old (also a boy) is 'my very middle', my 4 year old is 'my younger daughter', and the 2 year old is and always will be 'the baby' :)
Since I have mixed genders, it is a little easier. With all boys....hmmm... what about small, medium, large, and super sized :)
Congrats on #4. I love having a big family... more faces to kiss and hearts to love.

We often refer to my stepkids as "the big kids" or "bigguns" and DD is the "littlun" or "baby" but at 3 she is only the baby when it suits her. Otherwise she complains about the reference. So maybe 9 and 6 are the "bigguns" and 18 mo. and baby will be the "littluns".

We have 10 with the 11th on the way. We had the first four back to back (3 boys then a girl) and we call them the "original 4." There was a 4 year gap before having 2 more girls, a boy, another girl, then two (soon to be 3) more boys. The second and third girls are just "the girls," the 4th boy and 4th girl are simply referred to by name, and the youngest two boys are the "little ones."

I've never given it much thought. I know I call them my treasures a lot. I have six. Four of them I have the pleasure of raising and two are in heaven. I know I have irritated people by referring to the two that have passed away, but I feel like they are mine and they didn't stop being my children when they passed away. My living children would never let me leave them out. They love their brother and sister and you don't stop loving them once they pass away.

I never refer to my youngest as my last either. There is one thing I have learned over the years is that God's plans are better than my own and I would never not want another child, so right now I have a youngest, but never a last one.

Just jokingly and all we refer to our four children as number one, two, three and four. They are all very close and we and a very comical family so this is how we've done it. No pun at all that our kids are just "numbers" as each one is VERY SPECIAL and IMPORTANT to us. My husband is from a larger family and they all talk about what number they are as they are always asked where do you fit in the line of kids so he just brought on numbering our kids. No way harming them as just a number thought. We also refer to them as their names and the oldest as oldest, two middles as middle and the youngest as youngest.

Oh everyone in my area knows my friends' boys (all four boys under age 9) as the "Krider boys"... they go to school - that's what they are called, they go to soccer - that's what they are called, they go to the beach or party - that's what they are called, they go to the ER - well, the whole staff knows them as the "Krider boys"...

Let's just say she is not having anymore kids, LOL! She's hit her limit :)

They are all my chickens or stinkrats, (they gave themselves those names, not me!). Really though, I usually say, "my 5 yr old" or "3 yr old" since they do NOT like the be called oldest/baby and such.
