Hi C.,
Lots and lots of handwashing with soap and water. I wouldn't use the antibacterial. Just plain soap and water.

Wash your hands a lot, try to keep your face away from baby's face, and always cover your coughs and sneezes. Ideally, wear a face mask, but not practical.

I would just wash your hands a lot and try not to kiss or breath on the baby.
But no matter what you do your child might get it. It's ok for them to get sick, it builds up their immunity.

Good luck and feel better.

As a nurse, the biggest piece of advise that I can give to you is HANDWASHING. Seems simple enough, but it works. Secondly, you might consider getting your little one the flu shot in the future. However, nothing is a sure thing :)

I would wear a surgical mask. The flu is can be spread by coughing and it would be easy for your baby to get it that way. No kissing and wash your hands with an antibacterial soap for 15 seconds as needed. Use a separate hand towel than the rest of your family. Don't touch your babys eyes, nose or mouth as the virus can enter that way.

Wash your hands a lot! That is the only way I have found to not pass something on and be careful of your little one sticking his/her hands in your mouth etc. I'm sorry you are sick! It is the pits! Hope your little one stays healthy.

I personally think there isnt anything you can do to "prevent" the flu, however, if she is healthy and is getting good nurtients, she may ward off the flu you have. Just make sure you keep your germs away from her/him as much as possible. Rest as you can and take care of yourself, if she does get the flu then deal with it at that time, dont add undo stress and guilt worring about the possiblity. :)

If your 21 month old has other medical problems that would make if dangerous for him/her to get the flu, then there is medication your doctor cam give him/her. However, if has to be the actual flu. Some people say flu, and they are refering to a stomach bug or a bad cold.
If your child is not high risk, wash hands - a lot!
Good luck. I hope you feel better soon!
