Flatulence - My 10 Year Old

Okay...this is comical and sad all at the same time. My husband's side of the family is very gassy...the women and the men. My husband is very gassy...he's been to the doctor, even, to find out if anything is wrong it's so much, but after many tests, etc., he's just a gassy sort of guy. Unfortunately, my 10 year old daughter is terribly gassy, too. I know what sort of foods (broccoli, cabbage, beans...) can cause a lot of gas, but maybe I'm missing something. I'm trying to figure out what I can do to help my daughter. She came home crying on friday because she had 'tooted' at school and was very embarrassed. We've told her to excuse herself to the bathroom, but she can't realistically do that as often as she needs to. She's tried holding it on all day (poor girl) but has a stomach ache by the end of school when she does this. Has anyone experienced this? Do you have any thoughts or suggestions how I might help her? It may just be how things are, but I just want to see if there is anything else I might do to help her out. Thanks!

What can I do next?

i would try some of the over the counter ideas the other ladies suggested along with changes in diet (i have found that dairy products and gluten seem to be a problem for me and i have always been as your daughter is)and then if that doesn't work maybe see a pedatric gastrointerologist. they would be able to tell you much more than a regular doc because they are specialist in the digestive system Gl, N.

Poor thing... My daughter went through this a few years ago and we started putting the Beano drops in her food and it worked wonders. Good luck to you, I hope you find something that works.

There are so many foods we think are okay today that can cause all kinds of things to happen in our bodies that cause gas. I would read "YOU on a Diet" if I were you. Helps you learn a lot about what happens to food in our bodies.
