Fisher Price Private Connection Monitor

I've had problems with my baby monitor since I bought it 6 months ago. The display on the monitor will just go blank for no reason whatsoever. Usually if I unplug it and wait a while it comes back. This time, it didn't. I tried to return it yesterday at Babies R Us and they wouldn't take it. We did purchase the buyer protection plan for $8.99 and I just learned it is worthless. It only covers the monitor if there has beena power surge. This is ridiculous! I plan to contact Fisher Price and see if they will help me. My point is, buy protection plans have never, ever been helpful to me or my family. My question, can you lovely moms please tell me about your best experience with a specific brand of baby monitor? Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Hey

I hesitate to even say this because it is not the most honest thing to do. I hope you don't think bad of me when I tell you this, I really am a good honest person. I just think we all work way to hard for our money to go through all of this to get what we pay for,a good product. I know it s not the stores fault you may have pruchased the lemon, but it would be nice if they would be more helpful. Ok, if the store still has the same monitor (assuming you would not mind to have another one) buy a new one, put the broken one in the new box w/ the new receipt and return it.

I know it sounds shady, but I have had to do it. My husband got me a new coffee pot or Christmas and before it was a month old it was not workng. Well you know men, he did not save the receipt. I called the store where he purchased it and they said w/o a box or a receipt they could not take it back. I had to prove it was purchased at that store. I was kind torn because I did not really want the same coffee pot, but I did not want to be stuck w/ a broken $60 coffee pot and out another $60 for a new one. Well I did it, I went to the store and purchased the exact same coffee pot, put the old one in the box (i did clean it up first)and returned it w/o any prolem. I did tell them it did not work so they wold not sell it to anyone (how honest, lol).

Well anyway it is just an idea. Since it is 6mo old they may not even have it anymore, and you may just want differant one all together.

I just thought I would share that idea even though it is not very honest. I really am a good honest person. Maybe calling fisher price is the better way to go, but if you don't get results or it becomes more work then its worth it is a quick fix.

Good luck

T.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem with your monitor. We've purchased alot of things from Babies R us and we didn't purchase any of the protection plans, now I'm really glad we didn't. The monitor I have is a Sony Baby Call Nursery Monitor, we did get it from Babies R Us and it was around $49.99 we have not had any problems with it. The feature I really like is it has a voice activated feature. I hope this helps!

We absolutely love our monitor, we've been using it for 3yrs and 5 months with NO problems! It's the Fisher Price 900mhz monitor, it can be battery operated or plugged in,and has the lights and vibration features. We actually bought a second one when our second child was born so they would both have this wonderful monitor, however, having two of the same on the 900mhz caused interference, so regretably we had to return the second one we bought and just use a safety first cheap monitor for our oldest and moved the 900mhz cordless into the baby's room- it's not too expensive they carry them at Walmart and Babies-R-Us around $30 or $40-

Hope this helps!

I actually haven't had great luck with baby monitors, but I have had to call Fisher Price customer support in the past and they were very helpful. I would definitely call them directly. I had a FP swing that died on me, and they replaced the motor, then when the replacement motor went bad they offered to replace it as well or send me a full refund for the price of the swing. They were very easy to work with. Good luck!

We have the Summer Infant video monitor. It is a bit pricey, but we've had it for a year and a half with no problems. We had to buy it after our previous monitor purchased at Wal-Mart went haywire after only 6 months. They wouldn't issue us a refund or exchange for an item of equal value because it had been too long. They had also discontinued the item and were no longer selling it, so we were out of luck.

Can you just go back to Babies R Us and tell them there was a power surge? hahaha...Would they remember you? Good luck!

Contact Fisher-price directly. I had a problem with a purchase at Babies r us as well where they wouldn't return or exchange my product. On a last ditch effort, I phoned the number on the instruction manual. I simply told them the problem, where I purchased it and gave a number etched on the bottom. I honestly purchased the product a year before. Fisher-price was great. They sent me a box with a return label and 4 weeks later a check for a partial refund. After Babies r us, it was more than I expected. Hope this is helpful.

We have 2 Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld color monitors & love them! (1 at our house & 1 at my mom's/daycare) We've been using them over 13 months now. They have worked really well. They have night vision, so you can see & hear the baby at night. We've never had a problem with interference either. I know you're not crazy about Babies-R-Us, but here's the website. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=226580... This may help you find it some place else. Good luck!
