My first love and I have been talking. I want to win his heart back. It has been years since we've spoken due to our breakup. What can I do to show him that we our each other;s soul mate. He is planning on coming up this weekend to visit me. Any suggestions ladies? I am tired of being alone and single.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We went on a date, talked about old times and what happened. He seems to be content with how his life is today. I asked him why he was not dating anyone and he said that he is not ready for a relationship. It shocked me, but I am okay with it. I think I will leave things as is and just be his friend. We were both off today and I called him to see if he wanted to get together. He said that he just wanted to relax at home. I just changed the conversation and told him to keep in touch and take care. So, thanks ladies for your comments and support.

Wow..I am so excited for you. I met my soulmate almost 2 years ago..and my life has been wonderful ever since. I don't know if you are good with this kinda stuff, but maybe write doen your feelings in a poem and read it to him during a candlelit dinner. Chances are he feels the same about you, so it may not be hard to get him to realize you 2 are meant to be together..Good luck, and let me know how it goes

Watch out. Don't forget your lines or boundaries or however it is you think of them - don't think in terms of "doing anything" to make it work out. I got back together with my first love after an 8 year split. We were married almost 10 years and now we're divorced.

I would have done anything to get back with him, I did everything I could think of to keep him, and finally, after 10 years, our split was due to issues we'd never worked out in the first place and me coming to him as one who'd made the mistakes in the past. We're friends, now, but tossing self-respect aside to win someone over will make you realize a) they aren't worth it and b) you are worth more than that.

On the other hand, I LOVED him. Loved him, loved him, loved him and I don't feel my life would ever have been "complete" if I hadn't given "us" a chance.

God Bless You!

You can't make someone love you. Just be your pleasant, beautiful self and he should fall into your arms if it is meant to be.

wow how's all taht advice for it it's meant to be it will be... well they are right but speaking as someone who has been in your shoes here's the best i can tell you. whatever caused your breakup will have to be addressed and worked through even after all these years, you'll both have to come to terms witht e fact that you have both chnaged and matured and in reality neither o you are the same ppl you once were and this time around you might not feel you are so perfect for each other. instead of growing together in a relationship you both did your growing alone or with other ppl and that might mean that he is now someone you don't feel so strongly about or vice versa. hopefully that is not the case and things go fine. just remember that whatever was there before both teh good and the bad will be revisited if you get back together and it can end in the most rewarding relationship you've ever had it really can. i reunited with my high school sweetheart a little over a year ago and we are getting married in may of 08. it's been a tough road but we both feel that we lost to much time before to not stick things out and we are the better for it so it really can work. be yourself and be ready to put your heart on the table and let him do with it as he pleases. specially if it was you who messed up before. good luck i hope it works out and if it's meant to it will i really believe that. take care.

First of all, remember that you are not the same people that you were when you originally dated. We all constantly change, sometimes for the better, sometimes not, sometimes not for good or bad. You may be two very different people now, so don't go into it trying to force it or pretending that nothing has happened in the past few years. If you, it is doomed to fail. On the other hand, you may actually become closer now if your life experiences are similar. Again, don't force it. If it is meant to be, it will be. Guys run, run, run, from women who throw themselves at them. Go slowly, be yourself, just enjoy his company and see what happens.
