My daughter will be turning one in April and I am looking for ideas for a first birthday gift. I really want it to be something she can enjoy now and can also grow with. So any moms that have been there please share with me what your child has really liked! Thank you :)

For son's first birthday, we got him one of those kid sized upholstered chairs. It looked like our living room furniture kind of. It was like $50 I think. He loved it! He's 6 now, and it's still in our playroom. Another idea that my kids have loved is the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe car. We gave that to my son for his first Christmas when he was 10 months old. Again, he's 6 and both my boys play with it although he is getting a little big for it now.

My youngest is about to turn one as well - and while I can't think of a toy for you to give now that she could grow with, I will say we just got my boy one of those cars by Step 2 - about $30 or 40 at Toys R Us - with the long handle on the end for you to push - and my boy has absolutely LOVED that thing! Since they are starting to walk now - they can push it around or you can give her rides in it outside or even around the house if you have the room. It sure beats taking the stroller out for a walk! It's a win-win for you AND her!

My sister bought my daughter a very nice silver charm bracelet with a few charms representing the first year. She does this with each of her own 3 daughters, who are much older now. ONce a year they go to the charm store (she goes to one in Arlington) and picks out 2-3 charms representing something they were into that year. I think this is a GREAT idea and I can't wait till she is older and has a beautiful charm bracelet that reflects each of her growing years.

When my little girl turned 1, I bought her her first baby doll. They have one at Walmart that has a soft body and they are really cute. I believe it is under $10. She is 2 now and still plays with, along with all her other dolls. But she will be able to play with it now and as she grows. I hope you get a lot of ideas.

Good Morning E.!

I understand the importance of the perfect first birthday gift, I searched high and low. My little girl turned 1 in November and my husband and I purchased the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Learning Home, ($65). She loved it then and loves it now just as much. My 5 yearold step daughter even likes it. Only down fall is that it is a bit larger than most toys. With her birthday falling in the spring time, a wagon might be a neat gift too that she won't grow out of for some time. Radio Flyer makes the neatest one now with seats and cup holders.

Don't be disappointed if shes not overly excited about any particualr gift, I thought gifts would be "magical" for my daughter but, they are still a bit young to get too excited.

Hope this helped!
Good Luck!
