L.'s husband, here.
I worked at a audio-visual contractor for three years. Here are a couple tips:
Do NOT spray directly on the screen. The liquid can drip and once it makes it past the edge of the frame you can be in big trouble. Spray a little cleaner on a lint-free rag or high-quality paper towel, making it slightly damp. You should not have any liquid left on the screen after two passes on the rag. Also, there is a company named, "Monster Cable." They make a great cleaning set for this very purpose. If this is something you do frequently, I recommend it.
Here's the webpage for it through Target. Good luck.

When we bought our lcd tv the salesman at Best Buy suggested that we buy a special cleaner that came with a very soft cloth to clean it with.(we bought it, but I am at work and don't have the bottle in front of me to give you the name.) I am sure all best buys carry it) He told us that if you use windex or other cleaners, overtime it will damage the crystals or gas or whatever in the screen.

Hi M.,
I have been told to use a clean cloth with a little rubbing alcohol. I did it and it seemed to work.

Hi M.,
Don't use any harsh chemicals--anything with ammonia, alchol, windex, etc. are NOT good and can stratch the screen.
They do make special wipes for this. (They are the same as what you would use for glasses). You can get apx. 50 cloths for about $7.00 to $10.00 from stores like PC Club, Best Buy, etc.
