Finding the Best Jogging Stroller

Hi Moms,
My Father-in-law has kindly offered to buy me a jogging stroller!! Yeah!! I just wanted to get everyone's ideas, thoughts and recommendations. Which ones do you love? Which ones aren't worth the money? I will probably use it 3-4 times a week and I usually run about 5-6 miles at a time on pavement. Which features are important and which are just gimmicks?
Thanks!
T.

What can I do next?

Hi T.- I am also a runner. I have a Ketly double. It is heavy duty but light enough and folds well enough to take places. It is comfy for both my 1 year old (and provided support when he was 6 months) and my 4 year old who is over 30 pounds. If you are running/jogging you definitely want a non-swivel wheel- while being a little harder to turn it is much more stable. Also think ahead if a #2 is probable in the future a double is not much bigger or bulkier. I had an in-step single (with my 1st of 4 kids) and was not a fan. If you are planning on keeping the running I would offer to help your father-in-law with the cost and go for a real quality jogger ($300 nit $100)that will go the distance.
Good Luck and keep running!

I loved our single (and then double) Dreamer Design jogging stroller. We have used them up until last summer with our 3 and 4 year olds! They are built well, fold up easily, and are comfortable for the kids.

I bought mine online at joggingstroller.com and they had great prices, customer service, and free shipping.

Good luck!

While I cannot recommend a specific stroller, I do know that a lot of my friends who are also serious runners have gotten their jogging strollers at Runner's Edge in Wilmette. It is on Ridge Road. They are a specialty running store but also have a good inventory of jogging strollers. It might be worth a look, especially since the staff is knowledgeable and can assist you in the purchase of a stroller that would fit your running style. I can't imagine that Babies R Us employees would have the first clue.

I have a Baby Jogger stroller and love it. I think the biggest feature to think about is whether the front wheel swivels or not. Mine does not, and it still is pretty easy to turn the stroller, but you press down on the handle to lift the front wheel off the ground to turn. The swivel wheel is nice, but it can get stuck in pot holes or curbs and cause the stroller to tip over (happened to my sister). Otherwise, most have big wheels that make for a smooth ride. I'm sure you and your little one will LOVE going on runs together!

I have a BOB and love it. I just got a double bob because we are having a second baby. It's even nicer than my single. I bought my single used and it's pretty old. While running you don't want the front wheel to swivel but I use it as my primary stroller so when it came to the double one I bought the Revolution model because you can lock the front wheel or have it rotate. I think it's a pain to have it not rotate unless you are only going to use it for running. They aren't cheap but they are wonderful. I bought my double on Ebay for almost a hundred less then retail, even with shipping. The seats recline really far and it holds 100 lbs of kid. It ways about 32 lbs but I think most double strollers other than Maclarens weigh that much. The sport utility and the Ironman are the ones that have a not swivel front wheel and they are slightly cheaper. But not by that much. REI is really helpful and knowledgeable. That's who I talked to a lot.
Have fun running.
