Finding Baby Shoes That Stay On

My baby is 10 months old. Normally she doesn't wear shoes that much, and I know it is best for them to be barefoot as much as possible (indoors) for proper foot growth and development. But now that it is getting colder, wearing just socks outside is not going to cut it, and besides wearing just socks on hard floors is dangerous and slippery. Plus she will be walking soon and she will need shoes then definately! Every single pair of the many pairs of shoes I've tried to put on her don't work. As soon as I get them on she kicks them off or takes them off with her hands. Plus it is impossible to get her feet in them anyway. Does anyone know of a good brand of shoes that open wide to get on the foot easily (it is too hard to cram and wiggle a baby foot into some shoes), but fasten securely on the foot? I'd prefer velcro closures, as she can't sit still long enough to tie shoelaces, and the slip-on kind with no closures, just elastic, do not stay on. Thanks!

What can I do next?

i had the same problem. the best shoes are Nike. there is a style that when you put their foot in the there is a strap that wraps all around the foot and then velcros. they stay on great.

Three words....Robeez and Pediped. They are the best and absolutely the best for baby feet. They have elastic at the opening and they are super easy to put on. They are soft leather with no hard footbed but they protect baby's feet and keep them warmer in the colder months. I loved them for my daughter when she was this age and to this day still wears the bigger baby shoes from Pediped. You can order them online and just go straight to their websites. Their websites tell you how to measure the baby's feet and everything. Enjoy!

IT sounds like your little one might have wide or thick little feet. My guy did at that age and it makes them difficult to fit. As she is getting ready to pull up and start cruising around, you want a quality shoe that is going to aid in her development. I would recomend Feet First for kids at 81st and Harvard. Joyce, the owner is usually there and she and her staff do an excellent job of recomending the best footwear for your child's foot. My son ended up with feet that have a wide instep but a narrow heel. He also needs arch inserts in his shoes. Joyce picked up on all of that. She keeps records of all of you purchases and you get a credit after 12 pair for the average price. We have purchased shoes there for 9 years now . SHe has super sales, carries the best brands in all price ranges and has mommy shoes to boot. Good Luck

I have used Robees or the Target knock off's for both of my children. My daughter is also 10 months and they are the only ones that stay on and that she will tolerate for any length of time. They slip on like socks but are made of leather so they are supple. They are wonderful! The robees are a bit expensive for us at $30/pair but the Target ones are $17/ pair. It is worth a try.

I always found GREAT shoes at Stride Rite. That is all my son has ever worn and he didn't like shoes at an early age, until we started going there. They have them for all stages of walking/running development.

Hi S.:
We bought pediped shoes (Kathleen's Kids has them) for our daughter. We loved them as they were soft. To us, they were the next best thing to going barefoot. There is a website (I think it's www.pediped.com, but if that's not correct, you can just google pediped) that you can visit to look at the shoes. I hope that helps.
