Start by getting a new doctor. Doctor's should have someone call 24/7!
If he doesn't look "toxic" - really sick and lethargic, not eating, not playing - you can wait until morning to call the doctor. Give him plenty of fluids. A tepid bath could help cool him off.

Are there any other symptoms? If he is not uncomfortable, I wouldn't even give the motrin or tylenol. A fever is a body's natural way of fighting something off. If it is just a fever, just let it do its job. If he is lethargic, hurting, etc., then there is room for more concern. Is he saying his ears hurt? If not, then I would not worry about that.

Anytime I have ever called the ped for a fever its the same story. give lots of fluid, let them rest, if it gets over 104 and will not come down w/ meds take them in, if they are very lethargic take them in, if they are showing sign of dehydration take them in.
How long ago did have the tubes put in? At 3 he should be able to tell you if anything hurts. There is a lot going around right now. Some kids tend to get fevers w/ everything while others do not. My oldest has only gotten fevers with lyme disease and h1n1 flu. My youngest gets them with everything and usually they are high. If he says his ears or throat hurts I would take him into an urgent care or emergency room otherwise I would try and wait it out. Seems like kids know when the doctor's office is closed and this is when they get sick.

That really isnt super high for a little person. I say fluids, and rest. If you feel he needs to be seen, do you have a minute clinic type of place around. They give great care, and it is usually ALOT less than urgent care.

google urgent care and name of your town. google medexpress and name of your town. if all fails, take him to cvs minute clinic. they can do a throat swab there, check ears and even give rx for antibiotic if he has an infection. all insurances, i believe, are accepted
good luck

Depending on how long he has had the fever, I would definitely take him to an urgent care center. You have to have a phone number or location of an urgent care for night time or weekend illnesses.

Especially since he has the tubes in his ears, his body might be fighting off an infection. Good luck with your little guy!

If you are truly worried, you can take him to a local urgent care clinic. They take walk-ins without needing an appointment. You can give Tylenol, then Motrin in 3 hours, then Tylenol again in 3 hours and keep on repeating this pattern until the fever comes down.

But, as a doctor myself, I would say that you need to get another doctor! There should never be a situation in which there is no one on call to give advice in an urgent situation, or even one in which you are very worried. All responsible doctors have a system in which someone covers for him/her when they are not available.
