Fever at Night with No Other Sympthoms

I haven't read other responses, but it sounds like teething to me......if it keeps going and she starts screaming at night, it could be her ears.

She could have strep throat. My son is 6 and has had it 4 times. Most of the the time his only symptom was a fever at night.

I finally took my 15 month old daughter in after 3days of having a fever that went up and down. She had no other symptoms and would eat and drink fine. I think it was teething. After taking blood and doing a horrifying catheter, tests all came back negative. I wished i would have waited a little longer but you just never know. She has had a few fevers and each time with no other symptoms. I took her many times just knowing she had an ear infection but she didn't. Don't ya just wish they could talk and tell us what's wrong!!

Teething and growing. Pretty standard but you may try Hyland's Teething tablets-best price at Walmart in the pharmacy-and a dose of infant Tylenol.
My son lives on Hyland's at night and I will do the Tylenol if it gets really bad. He just turned 18 months and growing like a weed!

my son's ear infections never have symptons, always a little bit of fever, but nothing else, but when he has fever is always an ear infection beginning , when it comes to fever it's always better to take them to the Dr.

This is probably a virus and has to run it's course. If the fever isn't gone in 5 days I'd see a Dr. My son had this, is summer and several others that I know. I kept going back to the Dr. thinking something was really wrong and like they said after the 5 full days the fever broke and right before it did he had a rash.

It's going around. I just had my kids to the dr and she told me lots of kids are sick right now because it's spreading fast with the starting of school. Both military and non-military dr's are seeing lots of kids with fever, runny noses, and coughs. Just hang in there.

This happened with my son last weekend. I took him to the doctor and he said it was a virus. It took 3 days for it to go away. He is fine now. The doctor just said give tylenol and make sure he drinks plenty of fluids! Good luck!

I tend to agree with the others--probably a virus if there are no other real symptoms. I had this with my daughter, only she was only about 9 or 10 months old at the time, and the fever was getting up to 103, and Tylenol was only getting it down to maybe 101. That made me nervous, and I finally took her to the Dr. when she started getting a rash, too. Turned out that it was nothing, just a virus, and the Dr. said the rash is what they used to call a "hallelujah rash" (it does have a name, but it's basically a fever rash), because it means the fever is on its way out, so they called it that because it meant, hallelujah, the fever is over. Weird, I know! He said you can tell because if you press lightly on the rash, it disappears momentarily, which I thought was interesting. Anyway, it turned out to be nothing, and while you should always follow your instincts, I wouldn't worry.

Fevers usually run high during the night, if she is still running a temp you need to set up an appt with her doctor. Also just a tip, make sure you give her motrin and alternate with tylenol. Example every four hours switch, like motrin 1st then in 4 hours tylenol then in 4 hours motrin and repeat it will help to keep the fever down.

It's viral. I wouldn't worry about it. Just let it run it's course. Keep her comfortable and wait it out. Just keep paying attention to a possible ear infection or something of the sort, but more than likely, it's just viral.

We had this the past week with my 15 month old. Lasted 4-5 days. Dr. said it was a virus that they were seeing a lot of in the office. Exact same symptoms. Fever, usually at night, at least worse at night, very little appetite, still drinking lots of fluids. Her fever finally disappeared Tuesday, but her appetite is still so-so. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't take it lightly. A friend of mine's daughter was released from the hospital today after being in for two days. She was only running a fever, and my friend thought she was just teething. She stopped eating, and was taking in min amount of fluids. She finally took her to the doctor, and they had to do several test, and she had some tyoe of viral infection. By no means saying this is your case, but take her to the doctor just to be sure everything is ok. Good Luck!

Please go see a doctor or at least call his office to get their professional opinion.

My 11 month old did everything you described a couple of weeks ago. I took her to the doctor twice that week, the first time nothing, the second time they found a double ear infection. I know everybody says ear infection to everything but it was actually true that time in my case.

My oldest daughter did the same thing at that same age. I took her to the doctor. He said he bet she would break out in a rash 2-3 days later and sure enough if she did't. She had no other symptoms. She had Rosiola. I had never heard of it, but it is a childhood disease. I am one of 5 children and my mother had not heard of it either. She was fine though. Keep me posted! R. A.

Just a thought, but does your daughter have her molars yet? My daughter who is 16 months old just started getting her molars a couple weeks ago and did the same thing...fever at night around 100-101, she still had the fever but seemed perfectly fine during the day, and didn't eat very much at all, but would still drink. Sometimes they just get fevers for no reason at all, and then it just goes away. Hope she feels better soon! Good luck!

Sounds like what my daughter had - Bronchitis. Had a doctor ck her right before the high fever, & he decided it was cold. Then couple nights later, she ran fever (only at night). Take her at night when she's running fever, to doctor!!!

My 16 month old son has been doing something similar. We were at the doctor yesterday and it was just teething. He told me that anything with a low grade fever like that isn't something to worry about. I would call your doctor just to ease your mind.
