Fenugreek? - Mesa,AZ

If you (collectively, not you personally) are having milk production issues, you tend to try a lot of things to help increase production so I'm not sure you'll find too many who did just one thing and can attribute success to just trying the one thing.

When I went back to work I breast fed as much as I could at home and pumped at work but no matter what I did my milk dried up at 5 months - we did formula the rest of the way till our son was about 1 yr old (he was slow to take to solids).
I tried fenugreek
I tried eating a lot of oatmeal
I tried pumping more and BF more when ever I wasn't at work.
I still dried up.
But our son didn't go hungry and had no problems on formula.

I definitely increased my milk production. It also royally screwed up my hormones. You really have no idea how much you are "taking" when you make a tea, and nutritional supplements are not FDA regulated in the same way as medicine. I also took it for an extended time (many months). Those two things likely contributed to the problem.

My daughter used it and it helped. She bought it at the Vitamin Shoppe which sells pharmaceutical grade supplements. Most are standardized (it says so on the bottle) so you can know how much you are taking. The tea is hard to track like Molly said. Anyone should be taking an absorbable prenatal as well..most don't absorb more than 25% and most people don't know that.

I took this in tea and pill form and it did nothing or me.

I took the pills and it helped for sure. It didn't double my production but if I recall correctly probably 10-15% increase. HTH
