Femara vs Clomid???
I was wanting some info about femara...my dr. put me on clomid, but my folicles were small, a lot of them but no mature ones, and she wants to put me on femara now. Has anyone taken this or heard of it, and has it worked for you? How is it different than clomid and is it supposed to work better? thanks!!!

Hi C.,
I was put on Femara from my doctor and I conceived in two months. The reason why she chose Femara over Clomid is because it has less side effects. Apparently, Clomid can enlarge your ovaries. The only other thing I know is that it can come in different dosage levels and I was started on the lowest level. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I did Clomid for a year. After a 6 month "rest" of no medication, the doc started me on Femara. On the second month of using Femara I was pregnant! For our next baby, I'm skipping the Clomid and going right back to the Femara. It was a miracle drug for us!

I have been on femara for 7 months and I don't know if there really is much of a difference except that women who do not respond to clomid will typically respond to femara. Both clomid and femara cause your ovaries to basically shut down for the 5 days you are taking them and then will over work themselves to produce a really good egg. I have been having the same problems as you with the numerous follicles but none of them maturing. That actually happened to me last month so I had to have provera to get me started. My doctor recently increased my dosage to 3 pills per day. I think you would be fine on femara. My fertility doctor mostly uses femara for his patients. Good luck to you
