Well I got the same thing I and I swore my kids were practicing Voodoo. Went to the Feet doc, and he shot it full of anti-inflammitorys, wrapped it up and said to stop buying cheap shoes. Yes the pain was sharp and severe. I still think it was Voodoo as my kids were grounded that day. : )

Hello M.,
When I think about the side of your feet, I think of arches. Maybe yours are falling. Have you gained quite a bit of weight? Sometimes your body has to adjust to the extra weight and your feet has to adjust to supporting the extra pounds. Also pain on the side of your feet doesn't necessarily meaning that the problem is there. You may have enlarged nerves or hairline fractures or hundreds of whatevers. These are just some ideas I am throwing out for consideration. Best advice is to go see a doctor to be absolutely sure. Good luck. R.

Hi M.,
I have suffered exactly what you are describing. My Dr. said it was probably arthritis. If not that the metatarsal heads rubbing together. Too tight shoes, injury, overuse...there's not much to find on that area. I've also been told that it's Morton's Neuroma. If you go to Webdr.com you can get lots of info.
Good luck M. and let me know what you find. I've had to stop my vigorus walking routine due to this burning pain. write back if you find anything.
Thanks
V.

Dear M.,
I had that too at a much later age than you are now. I tried to tough it out and the pain only got worse. Finally I got to a orthopedist - I think that is what they are called, and he gave me a shot of cortisone and wrapped my foot. That helped and started the healing process. I had stepped out of the car and placed my foot in an odd way - that made it strain a muscle and cause a tear in it. It took a long time to heal because I waited so long to go to the doctor. It surprised me that the pain was so bad for so long. Those tears like that do not heal quickly. Good Luck, C. N.

Being a mom you're always on the go. If it hurts so bad you have are brought to the floor you should get that checked out. You might have nerve problems. I wish you luck.

Speaking as a Registered Medical Assistant, I would have it checked out immediatly. It could be a multitude of things, just as the previous writers said. Gout, Nerve problems, or even a small hairline fracture that you were unaware of and it's now not healing. It won't hurt to have it checked out, and being a busy mom you are on your feet too much during the day to ignore it. Seek a physician soon! Good luck!

Is your pain at the heel or radiating to the bottom of your foot? If so you may have plantar fascitis. Exercises to stretch the bottom of your foot (a scarf or band around your foot to pull the toes toward you) help.
