E.--My sister and dad both have skin conditions that affect their hands(not sure about the feet) like you are describing. Both of them have dry, cracking and peeling skin that leaves their hands looking rather raw and painful. Recently my sister talked again to a Dr. about what she should do....he said it looked like a form of excema (I'm sure I spelled that wrong but hopefully you know what I mean), and he also asked if she had hay fever or allergies---she does---and if she washed them alot---she does. She was told that it was not only an external condition but because of her hay fever and allergies something internally was affecting them also. The non-perscription treatment she was given (no insurance) was to not wash her hands as often, use a non-soap to wash her hands and a cortizone cream to help with the itching and soreness. The soap free cleansers can be found at the grocery store and Kroger's actually carries a store brand--it is a liquid "soap" that is a bit cheaper than the others. The label will say does not contain soap..... He also recommended she get cotton gloves and slather her hands with a good (fragrance free)lotion at night and sleep with the gloves on.
Hope some of this helps.

You need to see a doctor. You may be allergic to comething and not even know it.

My son had this happen and it was because he had strep, the Dr. thought thats what it was and gave him a strep test and it was positive, he didn't act like or say he was sick at all, a few days after he started taking the antibiotics it stopped.

FIND A GOOD HOMEOPATH!!!
Sounds like an allergy or fungus. The skin is the bodies first line of defense, so think of this as a good thing (whatever it is is not being forced inward).
A Homoepath or Naturopath can help your body resolve the issue. Conventional medicine will want to suppress the symptoms (via creams etc) but for this type of thing, usually a good holistic practitioner can help you actually resolve the problem so it does not need to return. (as apposed to treat symptoms everytime they flare up)
There are several in the Ral/Dur area. I like Dr Susan Delaney at The Wellness Center in Carrboro. Worth the Drive!

Hi E., I'm sure I've responded to you about other things mentioning a company called Melaleuca. This company sells a creme called Renew, its amazing and deals with all kinds of dry skin conditions. It sounds like it could be exzenma or even an allergy to the products you use at home. Switching what you wash your home and clothes with to safer products will probably help, plus a good creme.
I'd gladly tell you about Melaleuca if you're interested in hearing about it, it has been amazing to see the results for myself (I suffer from chemical sensitivities) and for my girls who both suffer from very sensitive skin that simply switching stores and using safer, better, products that don't contain harsh chemicals in my home have given us.

E., sounds like this may be psoriasis. A better nutritional program makes a big difference in this. I have an all natural product that has helped my aunt greatly with a terrible case of psoriasis. She has been to doctor after doctor & none of their meds have helped. If you want to know more, just call ###-###-####.
