It really depends on what is happening with your feet - I've seen both podiatrists and orthopedic surgeons. I've had both feet surgically worked on to remove bunions, and the one done by the Podiatrist was MUCH better.
There's often some unwarranted tension between podiatrists and MDs because of their different trainings. But, I'd personally recommend a podiatrist first because feet are their specialty. If you're unhappy, try a different one, and if it continues to be an issue, see an Orthopedic Surgeon.
Good luck.

A podiatrist! Our podiatrist has helped several members of my family with various issues such as high ankle sprain, broken foot, hammer toes, and custom orthotics (very helpful!) I would highly recommend one.

Hi E.,
My husband's feet problems have gone away due to good chiropractic care. I donn't know what your problem so I'm only speculating but I would try that first. I went to a podiatrist once and he wanted to do major surgery for a pain I was having....turned out my shoes didn't fit my feet right. I went shopping.....
