I learned that if you start with fruits and veggie that your child will have great eating habits. My daughter is 2 1/2 and eats like a champ! It's all trial and error. I started with bland foods (to protect the little taste buds) and just started to try everything. She now eats what I eat. Remember that if your little one doesn't like something - don't give up! they might like it a month down the road.
serving sizes are different for all kids - she will let you know when she is full and you will learn her pattern within a week.

Hope all goes well!

Congrats on getting through the first year. The next year is a BLAST as they continue to develop their little personalities and discover the world around them.

Stick with fruits, steamed veggies, whole grains, cheese and softer meats (if you eat meat--chicken, grnd beef, etc) diced and shredded to swallowable sizes. I think we tried for 3 meals a day, and two snacks. Since my guy was such a good eater, I didn't limit milk throughout the day or at mealtime, but some kids will drink more than they eat so you have to be careful.

Depending on your ped's advice, yogurt, applesauce and softer foods like that are fun for them to start experimenting with a spoon. Keep a camera handy - yogurt can be fun to watch!

We were told to steer clear of honey and shellfish. I don't remember until what age, but the honey can contain botulism and shellfish is a highly-allergenic food.

I used a great book called "Super Baby Food". It tells you what they should be eating, how much, when, and lots of other information you may or may not use. I really liked the fact that it made feeding my kids so easy. I have recommended it to dozens of people and they all felt the same way.

I use to feel my son morning..noon..dinner time with health snacks in between! Fruits, veggies, anything soft. I use to buy those teething buscits, my son loved those for a snack. You have to watch them though. When they get toward the end...you have to take it away. I hope that works out.
