Has anyone tried the diet offered on this website that is called Beyond Calories or Diet 4 Idiots? Does it work and is it worth the money?...or is it just common sense eating rules that you can find in a library book or elsewhere online?

What can I do next?

I would recomend against any diet program that advocates strange eating habits, buying their food or pills of any kind. Common sense eating a smaller portions is truly the way to go. If you find you need guidance and support Weight Watchers is wonderful. They give excellent information regarding real, regular foods in the right amounts to lose weight the right way. I do not work for them, I was just very impressed by my experience with them. I lost the weight I wanted and learned habits to keep the weight off instead of loosing and gaining back again.
Good luck to you.

I'm not familiar with the Diet 4 Idiots, but I am familiar with loosing nearly 40 pounds (and keeping it off)! My youngest is now 11, when I was pregnant I was easily over 225lbs, and when he was about 2yo, I went on a sensible program that recommends eating regular meals that include protein, fat, and healthy carbohydrates(like vegetables), with exercise, and lost 40lbs and have kept it off for 9 years (I now weigh 160lb, I know I could/should loose more, but at least now I am comfortable with my body).
Most weight loss programs only have a long-term success rate, where you keep the weight off, of 1%. If you only have a 1% chance of not just meeting your goal, but keeping it off, why spend money and time only to be disappointed?
Eating sensibly and exercise are your best bet, yet we all need friendly reminders of this, and that is why personal fitness and nutrition coaches, like my friend Kathy Jordan, of "body transformation by kj" are so helpful. Find a friend or buddy to exercise with, and make dinner time easy on yourself by utilizing a meal assembly store like Dream Dinners. Most of their meals on about 290 calories per serving, with less than 10 grams of fat. When you have dinner already waiting for you at home, you're less likely to resort to going out as often, and we tend to eat better, more nutritious meals, when we sit down at home, turn off the t.v. and focus on our family. Eat well to be well :-)

Hi W.,
My personal experience is common sense eating, eating whole foods as much as possible (and watching your caloric intake) and being active in everything you do! Please check out my husband's website, www.jasonsfitkitchen.com, he's got a little bit of everything from exercise DVD's to healthy eating/cooking! I know it's hard fitting in everything in being a mom. I have two girls, ages 4 and 7 months - I can't imagine juggling FIVE children! You are working hard (and loving it I'm sure!)! Good luck!

Hi W.
I don't know what diet program you have referred to
but I lost 35 pounds (I am almost 55-it ain't easy!!) and 27 inches overall.
The Slimplicity program is the only one on the market that has NO SIDE EFFECTS!
And a 30 day money back guarantee.
That was huge for me. No ephedra or needing to locate bathrooms wherever you go.
Would love to share info with you.
Oh BTW I am on the road to lose the last 35 as well.

I tried diet for idiots a few years ago. i printed off the meal plans and use them whenever i want to jump start a few extra pounds.

a few things i've found:

it's not a lifestyle change diet- i found it to be too restrictive.

if you are semi-vegetarian it's hard to follow.

if you don't have time to focus on your food, you won't have time for this.

you won't feel hungry on it.

good luck!

Hi W.,
I tried the Diet for Idiots offered through MamaSource and thought it was really great. It is not that expensive and gives you choices on just the foods that you already like. When you begin, you are sent to a page where you go through several lists of foods where you check off everything that you like. That way, you know that they will never ask you to eat something that you don't like. Then you proceed to printing out your suggested menu. You can always go back in and request a different menu when you do the diet again. Each menu is for 11 days. They recommend that you follow the diet for 11 days and then take a couple of days off before starting again. If you follow their guidelines and diet, you WILL lose 10 pounds in that 11 day period. Once you stop doing the diet entirely, you simply eat sensibly. The diet also teaches you that it is better to eat more often in smaller amounts (never eat until you feel totally full) and choose fresh fruits & vegetables over prepared and packaged foods as they always contain fructose, chemicals and preservatives which all make you gain weight. I thought it was a great way to lose weight and have passed it on to several people who also found it quite do-able. In fact, I am on my 5th day of it again now as I have put on weight following a long time of inactivity after an emergency appendectomy with some issues in the recovery room. It is my own fault for not getting back into exercising and for snacking too much and too often on junk food, so I can't blame anybody but myself. They offer so much info to read up on the diet before you even begin. An alternative to the 11-day program (if weekends are just too difficult to manage the diet) is to follow the diet to a T Monday through Friday - then take Saturday & Sunday off but DO NOT eat any junk food or prepackaged food, etc. on those 2 days off - then begin Monday as Day 6. Good luck! I hope this works for you. Feel free to contact me with any questions. ____@____.com E. Taft
