Enough talk about the cheapest meal you can make, or how to feed a family of 10 with noodles, a can of campbells soup, and a gray piece of meat from the freezer!

Right now I'm craving:
-a crisp salad of roman lettuce, cucumber, grated carrot, purple onion and toasted pecans with lime vinaigrette and spinach and artichoke dip with pita chips to start
-pan seared steak with red wine-pepper marinade, homemade buttery garlicy mashed potatoes, fresh broccoli (love broccoli) and piping hot parker house rolls
-while I wait for my dessert to come to the table I will comfortably sip on a nice glass of red wine
-when dessert comes it is chocolate cake overflowing with cinnamon ice cream, and whipped cream

Dream!

If you could be treated to any restaurant, any meal or whatever what would you want?

What can I do next?

Lobster bisque for starters. Then any sort of meat that's been slow roasted, smoked, whatever, until it's falling off the bone. Short ribs for example. Atop a bed of mushroom risotto with wilted spinach sauteed in garlic and lemon juice. With a nice glass of Marques De Riscal Rioja. Followed by a smooth, creamy panna cotta or creme brulee or just an honest-to-goodness hot fudge sundae which I would eat with no guilt because in this magical place there are no calories or fat.

Or sushi. The best quality, all I can eat. Followed by the same magical hot fudge sunday.

Fun!

Cocktail: Amaretto Sour

Salad: wild and Butter lettuce mix in a basalmic dressing topped with a honey crusted goat cheese and candied pecans

Entree: lemon butter salmon with capers and a side of lobster, bacon wrapped asparagus spears, and buttery homemade crescent rolls
Beverage: Hoegaarden beer with a squeeze of lemon

Dessert: Chocolate lava cake with raspberry sauce and a cappuccino dusted with cinnamon

Nice dream since I'm pregnant and can't really have much of that at the moment... :-P

That's easy!
Burn's Steakhouse in Tampa. It is beyond extravagant and oh so scrumptious. They have their own farm and grow their own vegetables and raise their own beef. It is out of this world! They have an upstairs which is private booths where you retire for dessert and specialty wines, cognac, etc.

Man, I miss living in FL!!!

Carmines in NYC. I'd get their ceasar salad which rocks. Then chicken parm with angel hair pasta marinara and for dessert tartufo and a cappucino. Followed by getting into a limo with my hubby and...
:-)

In another direction, absolutely amazing Thai food at Pam's Real Thai. Start with the cocconut soup Tom Kha Gai (I think...) and curry puffs, then panang curry chicken and rice.

Then walk over to Coldstone's on 42nd st and get coffee lovers only.

Or in a different direction, I'd go to Hibachi and get chicken, steak and shrimp and of course some sushi to start. Yummy yummy yummy!!

Thanks for making me crave!!!

In reality, me and the kids had home made individual pizzas for dinner (we made them together). I had some cherries for dessert. Yummy but a far cry from my "dream" meals.

Wow, great topic. My favorite restaurant is The Grotto,in Flower Mound, TX- it's a cozy place with fantastic food.
Appetizer is thin sliced steak atop baguette covered in garlic sauce that melts in your mouth, steak is so tender you can't tell where steak ends and bread starts.
Entree is chicken in a white wine sauce, accompanied by asparagus smothered in butter and almond slivers and garlic mashed potatoes.
Dessert is a unique creation with buttery pecans, chocolate and unknown awesomeness!

I really love this place, a bit on the pricey side, but more than worth it, every once in a while.

I could go in two totally opposite directions.

Fantasy Meals, right?

Fried catfish, the way Big Pines Lodge in Uncertain, TX used to do it, before somebody burned it down. Dusted with cornmeal, crispy, whole, and all you can eat. Gimme some of my aunt's german potato salad, perfectly fried okra, and a warm pecan pie with ice cream for dessert. Let's eat it in a biergarten on a nice summer night, and listen to a good band play.

Or take me the other way.

Start me out with a vodka martini. I want a nice bleu cheese and spinach salad, maybe with some red bell pepper in there. I'll have my steak medium-rare (okay, closer to rare). I want twice baked cheddar potatoes with a touch of horseradish, and steamed green beans (that still have just a little crunch). About now, I need a nice glass of cabernet, while I wait for dessert, and I have to admit that your cake with cinnamon ice cream sounds like a little slice of heaven. Hold the whip.

K.R., I'll bet that if we were to have dinner together, we'd get on just fine.

I would want an Antipasto Salad with Vinegary Italian Dressing (NO ONIONS or Olives), Italian Beef Pizza with Giarndaner (medium heat) on top - with garlic bread on the side (out of sourdough) with a Bacardi Rum and Dr Pepper. Ohhh don't forget the Parm cheese on the pizza! In addition Cheesecake, but not just plain a small slice of Plain, Chocolate, Rasbery and Turtle. MMMMMMM with a cup of coffee.
