Father's Day Ideas - Davenport, IA
Hello Moms out there, I need your help. This is the first year for celebrating Father's Day for my husband and I need ideas on what to get him. A little about my husband, He enjoys everything outdoors, such as fishing, hunting, golfing, etc. I was wondering what would be a great first father's day gift. I am clueless and was wondering what you ladies out there had for ideas. I am looking for it to be memorable and for this day be one of the best days ever for him. Thank you so much for all of your help!!!

It might be fun if you could get a couple of his buddies (in relationships) to have a golf morning and then have the couples meet up for a lunch or dinner.
In general just let him do some of his favorite things with some special people.

I found a great pic of my hubby and son and then bought a cute daddy-type frame. I know I got another gift as well, don't remember what. You said he enjoys golfing and unless you have a membership somewhere, a round of golf would probably be nice. You could even go so far as make the tee time for him and round up a few of his buddies. Then make a nice dinner for him.

One of the gifts I gave my husband for his first Father's Day was a photo of our son (then just a couple months old)holding a little sign I made that says "I love (heart) my Papa".
I saved the sign and took our son's photo again when he was 14 months old. I plan on doing this every year and my husband will end up with a great collection of photos that will show our son's progression. Actually, by next year we'll have a second child, so I might have to make another sign and this one might say "Me, too!".
Also last year, I gave my husband a toiletry bag with my son's photo on it. It was kinda spendy, but it was really great quality and he'll have it for decades, I'm sure. I think it has to be ordered through a photographer, but if you want to investigate, check out: http://www.bagsbybabycakes.com/. There be others out there that do this type of thing, but this is the one our photographer recommended.
Enjoy -- it'll be a special day no matter what!

My husbands favorite fathers day present is a T shirt we made with the words "Best PaPa hands down" and my granddaughter's hand prints on each side. I did one hand at a time and cleaned it. Where your baby is so small it might be hard to do the handprints since they seem to ball up their fists when you touch their hands... you could do foot prints and have the saying "My son/daughter walks all over me" I also did hand prints last year with a poem I wrote about grandpa's and framed them for the grandpas and great grandpas.
My Grandpa
By S. Gose
My hands and feet are very small
I reach your knees, I’m not that tall
I look to see the love in your eyes
My grandpa who seems so very wise
My hands and feet may be very small
I reach your knees, I’m not that tall
You’ll teach me a lot being my best chum
I have a lot to learn in the years to come
My hands and feet may be very small
I reach your knees, I’m not that tall
Hold my hand & I’ll hold onto your finger
As we explore the world; come on, let’s not linger

You could have your son's portrait taken somewhere and use Daddy's golfballs, fishing, hunting equiptment as props in the picture.

When your baby is asleep (preferrably in a swing or something), paint the bottom of your baby's feet with paint that can go on fabric and won't wash out in the laundry. Press the footprints onto something (shirt, fishing hat, ???) So cute and proud daddy will love to wear it!

For my husbands first Father's Day I got a canvas bag and did the footprints, handprints and used fabric markers to put the date on it and such. I also got one of those stepping stone kits and put her footprints in that. He loves the outdoors and gardening so I thought he would really like that.
We were just going through the closet and that bag "we" made was in there and it made him smile. He said he would never get rid of it.
I also made sure that I had donuts (he is a donut freak) and coffe ready for him. I let him sleep until he woke up on his own. And I filled up the canvas bad with "treats" that he loves. Then we did whatever he wanted to do for the day.
It may not be exciting or original, but he loved it.
****I read the photo idea from another poster above and thought it was a great idea. I just went out and got the mail and in it was a catalog from RedEnvelope.com and they had a the cutest "handprint frame" on the back page. It is made so you can put the photo in it and then have the child put his handprints on the matting around it and comes with an espresso frame. It is 39.95 and I am betting you could make it yourself for a lot less. I just had to pass it along :)

I got my husband a book for his 1st Father's Day. It was a childrens book about daddys. You could look for a similar childrens book that maybe has outdorr things in it that they do together (or plan to do together). Then you could give you child a crayon and let them "sign" their name in it =)

Hi,
One Father's day we had our kids put hand prints on a plain grey sweatshirt. My husband still wears it some time and our daughters are all 18 and older.
