Fashionable Mens Clothing

My husband has grown tired of wearing polo shirts and slacks to the office every day. Do any of you have fashionably-dressed signifant others? Where do they shop? What are they wearing to work? Thanks much!

What can I do next?

J.,

My husband just tried Men's Warehouse for the first time yesterday and had a great experience. The salesman took a ton of time with him to help him get just the right look, but was never pushy. There are eight of them in the Minneapolis area. http://www.menswearhouse.com/index.jsp is the website and there is a store locator at the bottom of the page.

Good luck,

My husband gets a lot of his clothes from Banana Republic. I would recommend a really nice pair of linen pants and some "dressy" t-shirts. If you go to Banana Republic or their website, you can get a lot of ideas.

My fav shirts of my husband's are from Kuhlman. The classic shirts aren't too expensive and we watch for the sales for the others. His other nice shirts are Express Men.

depending on size, For the larger gent go to Casual Male or Repp big and tall awsome shops

You could try going to a younger marketed store like American Eagle, Abercrombie, Hollister they will have all the trendy stuff out and most of it would work great for an office job. As long as it doesn't scream it's logo across the front of the shirt noone would even know where he shopped.

If you don't want to spend so much try Plato's Closet or TJ Maxx.

My husband is very much into fashion. He gets bored with his wardrode and wants to switch things up all the time. He shops at Banana Republic, Gap, American Eagle (not dressy but the "hip" casual look), Structure but by far his favorite is Banana Republic!!!

Try Nordstrom Rack at the MOA....my husband got a lot of really nice dress shirts there about a year ago. Look for Ben Sherman clothing, it's very fashion forward but a lot of it is still ok for the office. My friend swears by Express Men to shop for her husband and Kuhlman (maybe still a store at the Galleria in Edina?) has beautiful men's clothing.

My husband works at Target City Center downtown Mnpls. Target requires business dress all days but Friday so he doesn't often "get" to wear polos. Back when we lived in Arizona wear the business dress is more casual he wore a lot of button up short sleeve shirts and khakis. Some days now he is forced to wear a full suit but usually he wears a button up long sleeve shirt with a button or two undone at the top and an undershirt underneath. I think he's pretty comfortable in that. During the winter he wears sweaters over collared shirts with the top button undone. Target's HQ employees are pretty fashion forward and he does a good job of keeping up with the mens fashion. He looks pretty darn good when he walks out the door, IMO:) He shops at Saks off 5th downtown, Macy's and actually the Marshalls downtown is where he gets a good chunk of his clothes so he doesn't pay a fortune but still is able to dress really nicely.
Hope that helps

The latest thing in men's work casual at my husband's office is a solid color t-shirt (a tasteful design on the front is OK) with an oxford shirt over top (not a full dress shirt - those sort of Land's End-y in-between shirts) in a matching color. E.g., a dark blue t-shirt with a medium-blue button shirt over top.

By far our favorite place to shop (for him or me) is Turn Style. It's a consignment store with several locations (listed on their website: http://www.turnstyleconsign.com/). The one we go to is in Eden Prairie. They're very picky about what they have, and frequently have very high end labels (Christian Dior, Armani, etc.).

My husband was really skeptical of shopping "used" clothes at first, but enjoyed both finding nice stuff for a good price and having all the shirts he wants to look at on one or two racks. I found that the best trick is to bring them home and wash them (even though they're already clean). It's sort of like claiming them for the family.
