White House Black Market has really great clothes. They are kind of pricey but they are great quality. Online they usually have some sales. I can relate to your situation, my husband is in the military so there is always something I need a dress for. I have always gotten compliments when I wear something from White House Black market. I have 3 kiddos so my figure is not what it used to be. There clothes are simple but elegant. Good Luck!!

You may like Chadwicks. I look online all the time and right now they have dresses on clearance. I saw quite a bit in dresses for elegant occasions. They carry womens, misses, & petites. And its online!!
Also, I haven't gone there much, but I have heard Ross store is really good, especially for dresses.

I love to shop online too and found two websites that have great fashion for all ages. FashionBug.com and Cato.com Both have cute styles for all ages and sizes that fit from petite to larger women. The prices are unbeatable!!!

I suggest looking at Macy's. They have a huge selection of fabulous dress that look on any shape or size and they are trendy. I just bought a gorgeous dress for my son's baptism and I had a difficult time picking which one I wanted because there were so many good ones. And, they are not as pricey as you would think...mine was only $50. Good luck and enjoy the wedding!

Lately... the Merona Collection (there is the Merona and Merona Collection) from Target is fabulous. I really really really love their dresses. You can order a few different styles and sizes, try them on at home, and return what doesn't work at the store. The 3 dresses I have bought from there haven't needed to be altered, look designer, can be dressed up with jewels, and are under $50.

Anthropologie.com (expensive but unique, beautiful, and well made)

I usually do good at Kohl's for cute little dresses that don't cost an arm and a leg bc it seems like their stuff is always on sale. I just celebrated my anniversary and got a cute dress for like $30 or so, so I was able to get shoes and accessories and I did it all for like $50. Crazy I know, but hey saving money is awesome for me plus the styles there are youthful,(I am 33). You can shop online and their sizes tend to run a little bit big. I don't know how formal the wedding is but I wore the dress I got to a restaurant called The Capital Grille which is a pretty upscale place and I felt great in it. They have lots of styles that are empire waist, a line skirt and sleeves, so they maximize all your best features and minimize everything else! Good luck and have fun:)

Right now Scarbrough's in Central Market at North LAMAR is having their 50 to 75% off sale. They carry clothing sized 4 to 12. They also carry shoes, makeup and accessories.. ###-###-####.. Call and set up a time if you want.

They will even be willing to hold your child! The dressing rooms are huge so you can take your stroller into the room with no problems. Tell them L. sent you..

little black dress is always appropriate! depending on your style.. you can find great ones online @ Express, Limited, Ann Taylor, Black & White, Banana, Even Old Navy might have something cute and much more affordable, also, i found this website, it's teen clothing, but they do have some cute things, just be careful, I ordered a dress once that i thought i could wear to a wedding and ended up using it as a swimsuit cover!!! www.gojane.com :) I have found adorable black dresses @ Banana in the Galleria for barely nothing! like 25 bucks on sale! also, accesorize @ Charming Charlies! Have fun hot mama! :) ..... actually, i just briefly checked out gojane and probably not appropriate @ all, it seems alot more "hootcie coo" than i remembered! :)

Not sure what size you are looking for but if it is plus sizes Torrid is great. A lady from work introduced me to them and I shop there for everything (mostly online.) Have fun at the wedding!

I also don't know your age, but I like forever21.com and topshop.com. Topshop is a UK store that has branched out to the US and their clothes are very trendy (in a good way) and cute. I also go to urbanoutfitters.com sometimes. If you ever want to go shop in person, I love Buffalo Exchange. If you don't mind wearing recycled clothing, they have a lot of options of really current styles for very little money. They have tons of dresses and they can be dressier ones too. Good luck!

Not sure about your shape or your pocketbook. New York & Company has good prices, and the selection is not overwhelming. Wherever you go (I prefer online, as well.), I would suggest that you find a simple dress, maybe a tent dress, something with no waistline but hits at the knees. (The dresses that cut in at the shoulders are flattering on me. That's the cut that sometimes requires a racer-back bra.) You probably don't want it to cling, but you should invest in Spanx or the Hanes things (Hanes is at Walgreens). The trick to dressing it up would be to wear some FABULOUS shoes (ornate, sparkling, detailed, boldly colored--whatever makes them fabulous), maybe with matching earrings. You can dress up your make-up, too.

I've been through recent body changes and have had to improvise for everyday and for special occasions. Where I shop online: New York & Company, Nordstrom, Macy's, Zappos, Bluefly.

Remember, also, that the key to looking great is feeling great. A confident woman can wear just about anything anywhere.
