Family Vacation for Kids of Different Ages
My sister in law would like to take my nephew for a big family vacation next year as a celebration for his high school gradyatio. we are trying to find a trip that is workable for all age groups we have. I will have a 3 1/2 year old and a 7 year old and her son will be 19...any suggestions?

I too have heard that cruises are great. I'd also consider a camping vacation or getting a cottage or cabin with great scenery. I am trusting that the 19-year-old is bringing a friend!

A cruise is perfect for kids through every age! There are so many wonderful things to do for kids from toddlers to teens! And its fun fun fun for the grown ups too :-)

Disney. Have the 19 year old take a friend. Do some stuff as a family, some stuff just for the little ones and the young adults can go do their own thing for a while. Then, have them babysit a few hours for the adults to have dinner or just go out. Win-Win-Win!
We took my 17 year old for Spring Break during his senior year (because summer time was too crazy for me and my hubby at work) and our little one was just 2. Originally, we had other family going with us so we would have extra hands with the little ones while some of the adults could have fun w/ my son but they bailed so we made it work with just the four of us. Would like to go again now that my girl is a bit older...maybe after my son graduates college we can go again.

We did a Disney cruise this past Feb with my stepsons who were 16 and 17 at the time, and my daughter who was 3...it was amazing and everyone had a fantastic time! They have fun stuff for everyone at every age! We did the cruise along with a Disney World vacation and all the kids had a blast!

If he is an outdoorsy type, Glacier National Park is great.
I would also ask the graduate what he would like to do as seeing that this is technically "his" trip

I agree with all...a cruise. Has things for all groups. I really suggest letting him bring a friend also.

Find something where even if not everyone does everything there are options. For example, when we go to the lake, DD goes along on the boat, but there are times they go out with DH and I take DD to the nature center. We went to the UK with a 21 yr old, 17 yr old and 3 yr old and they all did fine. DD even went on a walking tour with us. Some of the castles were too bumpy for a stroller, so one of us stayed with her while the others did their thing. If we go to an amusement park, we also tag-team kid care with the little one and the big ones check in from time to time. Beach is also do-able. DD was 1 and we had two 18 yr olds and two 14 yr olds with us at the time.

Yosemite? Yellowstone? Some outdoor venue that would have something for everyone.
