My in-laws are coming for a visit this summer and a trip to the coast seems to be the order of the day. We love the surfsand but are hoping to find a kid-friendly place that is less than $350 a night. Does anyone know if such a place exists? If so, please point me in the right direction. All my Googling efforts have not produced any reliable recommendations. Please help!!

What can I do next?

Not sure what you mean by "family friendly" -- but we really enjoy the Hallmark Inn Suites (they're one block north of the main Hallmark) It's a new complex (5-6yrs old I think) The suites work out really good for me, husband, and 2 daughters (5 & 3yrs old). There is a nice size living room space with a bed kinda off set by a short wall, kichenette, bathroom, and a separate bedroom for the kids. It's not on the beach but on the 3rd floor you get a peak at it and it's only about a block from the beach (down and across the street to beach access). It is usually a quite place, and it has it's own pool, and spa but you can also use the one a the main resort. I'm not sure what the summer rates are but I know we've been there in June for less than $200/night -- it's more expensive at the main Hallmark.

Hope that helps.

We've stayed at the Tolovana Inn several times, and have loved it! Many of the units have a separate bedroom and kitchenettes, so it's great for families, and we've always found the price very affordable. I'm sure summer rates are more, but we've rarely spent much over $100/night.

Look in the entire area. There is Motel 6 in Seaside that my husband and I stayed at last year. It was clean, quiet and the bed was comfy. It's also next to Bigfoots a restaraunt with awsome food!
Also if you have a AAA membership you can call AAA and see where they would recommend.

Call the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce or look up their website. It is such a friendly little town there must be something good there. You also might consider renting a house. I know you can get those for less than $350 a night. There is a little area just south of Lincoln City called Nelscott that has some great houses right on the beach. Try getaway2thecoast.com.

Good luck!

Tolovana inn is great much cheaper than Hallmark and surfsand. They have a pool are right on the beach and right next to Moe's which is nice if you have a kid you can order food and pick it up and take it to your room if you don't feel like cooking or dealing with the kids in the restaurant. I've stayed there with my daughter twice (at 1 year and 18 months) I would definately recommend getting a room with a view or at least a partial. The first time we stayed there we were in a partial view room which had a huge gorgeous view of Haystack rock and was very big. The second time I stayed there I stayed in a no view room that was very small and right next to elevators...make sure you don't get an elevator room.
