Little more info:
I am 37 weeks now. Was having preterm at 34 weeks.

What can I do next?

Nipple stimulation can bring on contractions, or keep contractions coming. Also your husbands sperm is supposed to bring on labor too. Try to be patient, because when real labor starts, you'll really know it's time

At 37 weeks you should let your body finish baking your baby. S/he will come when ready. Your baby grows much better most of the time inside you then outside. Each contraction is preparing your body and your baby in some way.

Hi C.- This may not be what you want to hear but with all 4 of my pregnancies my hubby and I had sex after I was a couple of days past due and that jump started labor,
Good Luck

hi C.,

I also had false labor with my last pregnancy - and it does really drive you crazy, i know!

Upon arriving at the hospital for the third time within just a few days, I told the nurse "I am not leaving here without a baby"! It's kind of funny now, but I was quite serious at the time.

They mixed me up a little "cocktail" that was a combination of epidural and whatever that stuff is that enduces labor. Worked like a charm - and pain free.

I assume you are very close or past your due date - maybe you could call your doc and ask? Don't fret, they all come out sooner or later ;-)

hugs,

W.

OMG..I feel the same way you do!! I am 38 weeks today. I started having preterm contractions at 28 weeks, which let me to moderate bed rest. I am soooo ready for our little one to be here. I have the same issue. I have so much pressure, because the baby's head is sitting on my pelvis. I have contractions that come and go for about an hour-but they never progress. Lately, I have been taking lots of walks with my dogs-weather permitting. If I start to feel contractions, I begin walking around the house, doing house work. And now, we are trying to have sex every day, because that can set off contractions. Good luck!

Just another voice to say it's really best for the baby to stay in there longer. I always look at braxton hicks contractions as good (eventhough annoying sometimes), your body is doing some of the work beforehand! It may mean less work in labor (which is always good), with all those contractions that have been going on/helping to prepare for the big event. I wish you well!

I wouldn't rush it. I know how frustrating it can be. I was there. My pre-term contractions started at 32 weeks. They would go on and off. I would drink a ton of water to make sure it wasn't because I was dehydrated. At 38 weeks, I took an herbal tea that someone on a blog suggested help. It did. I went into the hospital with my contractions 5-minutes apart. It stayed that way for about 10 hours. The Dr. started pitocin and I still couldn't get strong contractions. Finally, they broke my water and I finally did go into labor. My son ended up going into respiratory distress and was on a ventilator for a day and NICU for five. He came home nine days after his birth (and perfectly healthy now, thank God--I don't think I could have lived with the guilt if something worse happened). He just wasn't ready to come out. I didn't realize that babies could be born in respiratory distress so late into the pregnancy. It's more common than we realize. Let your baby come when he/she is ready.

Okay I know I might get some flak for this but my mom who is a nurse told me when I was having trouble with keeping the contractions going just a month and a half ago to have A glass of wine and take a hot bath. She said it will either kick start the contractions into full blown labor or the contractions will subside so that you can get some rest and then your labor will start a day or so later.

I have 3 words for you - Water, water, water. Drink plenty of it. Dehydration can cause contractions. I drank lots of water whenever I thought I felt them coming on. They stopped almost immediately. Good luck and hold on. Your baby will be here before you know it. Hope this helps. Congrats!

C., hold out. I know you maybe going crazy, but the same thing happened to me. I finally had her at 36 weeks (healthy Thank GOD!) my bag began to leak. The doctors really could not tell me why preterm labor happens, as long as the baby comes out healthy they really do not look any further into it. Just remember to get alot of rest and stay off your feet. The more active you are the more that facilitates contractions.

My heart goes out to you. I did that six times. With each of my pregnancies. Walking helped me more than anything else. And, make sure you are hydrated well enough. one way to know is to observe your urine. If it's dark yellow, you need to take in more water. Avoid chips and sausages...you know, salt. Get plenty of rest too, fresh air and sunshine, your body is in training mode, preparing for your baby's big debute! Good luck!

Try to lay on your left side and drink lots of water. They may help some.

If you're only 37 weeks, your baby could probably "cook" another week or so and would be better off. Annoying, I know. For slowing down the ctx, consider taking a warm bath and indulging in a glass of wine. Also stay well hydrated. And remember... the more pre-labor you have, chances are the shorter your "real" labor will be.

Your body will pick up and get going when it's ready. I honestly wouldn't do anything to encourage it this early, but as other posters have suggested, nipple stimulation should help once the time comes. Also, sex (right.. nice idea, I know) and taking lots of walks should help.

Good luck!
