I am looking to enroll my 3 year old daughter in preschool for the fall. I need something in the Ferndale/Royal Oak area. I don't know where to look, and was hoping I could get some suggestions. I also have a bit of a situation as to how to get her to preschool. I am currently laid off of work and home with her all day. I am actively looking for new employment though, and if I have a job in the fall I will have to have her in daycare. With regards to preschool, what is recommended in the area if I am able to drive her and what is recommended if I am at work and she is in daycare. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

My daughter attends the Tyndall Center through Berkley schools. It's actually located in Oak Park (just southwest of 11 mile and Coolidge) but owned and run by Berkley Schools. They are a combo daycare center and preschool so no matter what your work situation, they would be good for you. I think the program works that the kids do school work in the morning/early afternoon and then it's "basic" daycare after that for the rest of the afternoon (my daughter is only 2 1/2 right now so I don't know the details on the preschool program since she won't start it until next year). They're open from 7am-6pm. They also have a part time program if you don't want her there every day of the week.

My church also has what I've heard is a good pre-school program. It's First Presbyterian of Royal Oak, located just east of Woodward, south of 11 mile (it's tucked back in a really nice neighborhood). The program is called Sunflowers pre-school, I believe. You don't have to be a member of the church nor do you have to be presbyterian. I believe they are also a combo daycare center/preschool program.

Good Morning,

My daughter goes to St. Paul Lutheran Pre-School in downtown Royal Oak. They are wonderful!! One of the pre-school teachers is someone I've known for over 20 years. You do not have to be a member of their church or be Lutheran to send your child there. Neithier my daughter or I are Lutheran. Their phone # is ###-###-####. I highly recommend them. They are so good to my daughter!! :)

the royal oak library has a booklet listing all the preschools in the area.

Also there is a school that houses several preschool programs run by the royal oak school district. I think it is on 11.5 mile ??

There is a montessori school in ferndale.
