Facial Cleanser for Preschooler

Hey moms, what do you use to clean your child's face? Do you use the same for their body? I still use the baby wash (either Johnson's or Burt's Bees usually). My son's face has been red and itchy lately. Just wondering what everyone else uses to get their face nice and clean without irritation. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Thanks so much! I purchaseed some Cetaphil wash :).

My son's five now and we still use just water. Nice warm water on a washcloth gets all the gunk of without worry about getting in the eyes or drying his skin.

My son is a messy almost four. I use water. And a soft cloth. I use a facial cleanser on myself, but really, little kids don't need it. Soap is more often the culprit of the irritation (or detergent, too).

Are you talking in the tub? In the tub I use a milder soap like Burt's Bees (baby) or just plain baby soap. If I'm cleaning their face after a meal I just use a damp washcloth.

Water or Cetaphil (store brand has worked too!) is all I use. Even on her hair. Everything else is just too drying especially in winter!

Unless there is some real dirt on her face, I use water for my five year old. Then I put some moisturizer on her face (Cetaphil).

I use the regular body wash on my kids faces but if your son is having some irritation or eczema then you should use Cetaphil. Very gentle and hypoallergenic. They have a whole line of skin care. Cleansers, lotions, etc... I use it on my face, I love it. I don't have sensitive skin but I just love the way it feels and cleans.

I just use water on my daughters face (2)... maybe a soapy washcloth with mild soap after a meal if she is really messy.

His face shouldn't be getting very dirty at all unless he is doing something like playing in dirt, or a heavy sport that causes him to sweat a lot. check and see if the soap you are using has any type of alchohol or petroleum in it... which can dry out and irritate sensitive skin.

baby shampoo and body wash combinations are usually just fine "all over" a baby. dont use a lot, just about a half dollar size squirt in a sponge or bath "scrubby" will do. Less is more with little kids. Keep in mind that to much soap or bathing them too often can cause almost as many skin problems as bathing them too little! Our skin is healthiest when it has a chance to "self regulate" its own oils. Artificial "oils" and moisture from lotions and creams may help, but they aren't as good as our own natural oils.

Water and a washcloth will take of most of the dirt and grime that gets on kids this age just fine! save the soap for when he gets into mud, or has spaghetti sauce encrusted in his eyebrows!

Not much soap at all.
Because it can irritate their young skin.
Or try California Baby products.
Or Cetaphil.

Burt's Bees is good... but can be too rich for some skin or it can clog the pores. IF it is the 'adult' soap you are using. They also have baby products.

His red itchy skin, can also be due to dry, skin.
