Eyelashes grow back, don't worry, when I was about 10 years old I pulled all my eyelashes out, and yes they did grow back. I still to this day pull my eyelashes, I know I'm weird but if there are any eyelashes going in any other direction besides straight, it drives me crazy.

My mom's ex husband pulled out all of his eye lashes once. He got tired to people saying how "beautiful" they were, because they were so long. It took two years for them to grow completely back.

Hi C. ~ They do grow back. This happened to me in high school as well. I use a mascara base by Lancome. It moisturizes your lashes and helps keep them healthy and prevents them from falling out as you get older. I LOVE it. I don't wear makeup on a daily basis but when I do, I put my base/moisturizer on and they look fantastic.

Hi C.;

Yes, this happened to me before and I actually was cutting off my eyelashes with the curler for a very simple reason. The cushion in the curler had worn away. You need to check and make sure the cushion is very full. Many curlers now give you extra cushions to replace the old when they get too used.

The other option could be that you are pressing too hard. I always curl my lashes now BEFORE I add mascara. This way they don't stick to my curler and prevents lashes being pulled out.

Yes, they do grow back just be patient! Good Luck!

Get a grip! They are just hair, and they grow in in a daily basis. Make up is full of lead, do you really want to smear this on your body, absorb it and decrease your brain functions? Your choice.

Been there, done that. They do grow back within a few weeks. Curling them with mascara on will cause them to break off. Be careful.

I lost a lot of lashes with the birth of my second child, mostly on one eye. Almost 1/2 the lashes on the top row. It took a long time for them to grow back - about 1 year. Make sure that you replace your mascara frequently because it can get rancid after a while and I doubt that helps the hair folicles.

Hang in there:)

I had this problem after my last child was born. I figure it was associated with the pregnancy, after all you lose hair afterwards. I lost probably 1/8th of the lashes on one eye and 1/4th on the other. It was probably a good six months before they grew back. I curl my lashes everyday and have never had this problem before or after. Just be patient, they'll grow back eventually. I would dot in some mascara where the lashes should be to give it an even line across and make it less noticeable. I'm fair and my eyelashes are white, so I have to add mascara, and it would look more noticeable if I didn't do this.

I did the same thing two months ago. My son took out the sponge in my eyelash curler and was chewing on it. I went to curl my eyelashes and cut them! It took about a month and 1/2 to grow them back. In the meantime I just stopped curling them all together and they look fine now. They were cut all the way almost down to the root so they will grow back just give them time ;)

Hi C.,

I've learned that our eyelashes have a 30-90 day cycle and they are not all on the same cycle, that's why sometimes we have fuller lashes than others. But they will grow back. You can also try Arbonne's new Virtual Illusion lash enhancer. It really works well. I have the worlds shortest lashes and I thought nothing could help me, but it really has made a difference. My lashes seem fuller and longer. It also helps condition and nourish the lashes so that they are not as brittle. Arbonne is botanically based and this product does not contain any drugs. It is also dermatologist tested (not just reccommended). Let me know if you are interested and I could hook you up.
Best of luck with the regrowth!!

This happened to me all the time, yes they do grow back (just like any other hair does!) How long it takes depends on how fast they grow, it is different for everyone. To prevent this from happening (and it is also recommended by Mary Kay Consultants), curl your eye lashes before putting on your mascara (clean the mascara off your eyelash curler first or your eyelashes will still stick to the old mascara). This has worked great for me, and it hasn't happened since.

Good luck!

Also, I found out after years of wear water proof mascara that its the worst for you because of drying agents (?).

Don't worry, they grow back but much slower than the hair on your head. Here's some information on the Hair Growth Cycle. Remember, since it's your eyelashes they will grow at a slower pace than you head-hair.
Hair on the scalp grows about .3 to .4 mm/day or about 6 inches per year. Unlike other mammals, human hair growth and shedding is random and not seasonal or cyclical. At any given time, a random number of hairs will be in one of three stages of growth and shedding: anagen, catagen, and telogen.

Anagen
Anagen is the active phase of the hair. The cells in the root of the hair are dividing rapidly. A new hair is formed and pushes the club hair (a hair that has stopped growing or is no longer in the anagen phase) up the follicle and eventually out.

During this phase the hair grows about 1 cm every 28 days. Scalp hair stays in this active phase of growth for two to six years.

Some people have difficulty growing their hair beyond a certain length because they have a short active phase of growth. On the other hand, people with very long hair have a long active phase of growth. The hair on the arms, legs, eyelashes, and eyebrows have a very short active growth phase of about 30 to 45 days, explaining why they are so much shorter than scalp hair.

Catagen
The catagen phase is a transitional stage and about 3% of all hairs are in this phase at any time. This phase lasts for about two to three weeks. Growth stops and the outer root sheath shrinks and attaches to the root of the hair. This is the formation of what is known as a club hair.

Telogen
Telogen is the resting phase and usually accounts for 6% to 8% of all hairs. This phase lasts for about 100 days for hairs on the scalp and longer for hairs on the eyebrow, eyelash, arm, and leg. During this phase, the hair follicle is completely at rest and the club hair is completely formed. Pulling out a hair in this phase will reveal a solid, hard, dry, white material at the root. About 25 to 100 telogen hairs are shed normally each day.

Yes! I occassionally have the same problem. I don't wear mascara though, I belive it's a stress condition. Anyway, good news - they do grow back. You'll have to stop using the lash curler for now - make sure to clean it with vaseline in between replacing the rubber part to avoid pulling anymore lashes. Plus when they aren't curled, the gap is less noticeable.

Yes they grow back. It does take a while. I am not sure of the exact time but I would guesstimate about 4 months to completely grow to their full length again. To avoid this curl eyelashes before putting on mascara. That should help. Could be worse I have acedentally burned mine 1/2 off of both eyes (long story) so I am in the process of waiting for them to grow back as well but mine still have to fall out before they grow back. ;)

Hi C.,

It is very common to lose some eyelashes during and after you give you birth. The eyelash hair cycle is about 90 days. I had long great lashes until I got pregnant with my first baby and then towards the end of the pregnancy I noticed that my lashes were short and stubby. Needless to say I freaked out!!!!! I started to use a curler and volumizing mascara's. I now work for a company that has a eyelash enhancing serum. This stuff is awesome and it totally works. I was so happy when I had my lashes back. There is something about not having long lashes after you have had them for so long. Anyways you can check out my website if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me. www.GlamourGirlSecrets.com take care~

I think they will eventually grow back. In the meantime, you can use partial fake ones (just 4 or 5) if you want to. If you don't want to use fake ones, maybe give up mascara until they grow back, the missing eyelashes will be less noticeable if you don't put makeup on them.

Hi C., YES, they do grow back. I have the same "problem", if you want to call it that. What I do to help prevent my eyelashes from being pulled out by my curler is to heat the curler with my hair dryer first. It will keep you curler from sticking to your eyelashes, especially if you still have some mascara on them from the day before. Hold the curler up to the dryer for a few seconds, tap it on the outside of your hand so you can feel how warm it is. You dont want to burn yourself!! Doing this also helps set the curl. I'm not sure how long it takes to grow back, I never really paid attention.
Good luck.

Yes, they grow back. Try to take off eye make-up before bed at least till they grow back. Also buy a new eyelash curler. Next time keep an eye out for the rubber piece to get a perminent dent in it, that's what pull's out your lashes. It takes about 2 to 3 weeks. If you don't see any new ones by then get another brand of curler and use that for a while. Some curlers seem to but more pressure on one spot. Good Luck! J.

I'm sorry to hear, but most of the time they do not grow back. Especially if your in your 30's or older. A lot will depend on your genetics. Do you have thick lashes? Or are they thin and sparce? If you have a thicker lash line you might have a chance. This is info that I learned in school.

Hi Ladies-

I just finished reading all of your responses. OUCH!! I have never used an eyelash curler before and I think that I will have to continue to stay away. I dont have the steadiest of hands. Yikes! In fact this is the 3rd or 4th time I have heard that women are pulling their lashes out with the curlers.
I wanted to share that I have had tremendous success with an eyelash conditioner called Enormous Lash. Now I have the longest, healthiest lashes ever. Before they were thin and stubby. My daughter also had been pulling her lashes (Trich) for many, many years. She is 21 now and for the first time since using Enormous Lash she has long lashes and can wear mascara. So incredible what it has done for her confidence. We also hear what great success women who have had to endure chemotherapy are having with it. Really touching.
I would be more than happy to provide any additional information or answer any questions you might have.
Here is to gorgeous healthy lashes!
