Eye Makeup That Stays Put?
Ladies, I have been looking for years with no success - I need to find eyeliner and mascara that DOES NOT smear! I haven't tried department store stuff yet just because of the cost, but I'm willing to pay more if it will stay where I put it! I'm a contact lens wearer and I don't know if it smears because of the solution I use, but I can't think of any other reason why my makeup smears so quickly. I am constantly fighting bags under my eyes and the smearing doesn't help. Any suggestions or thoughts? I'm just feeling so old looking these days (I turn 37 in April) and I'd like to find something that doesn't add to the old lady look! Thanks so much!:)

Hi D.,
I am 48 and for years I use Avon wash-off waterproof mascara and need to remove it with Ponds Cold cream at night to get it to budge. I buy them for about $2 each when they go on sale once a year and then I buy 10 of them (normal price is $6.50). I wipe the brush each morning on a tissue before applying to get no clumps, and replace the tube once a month. Right now they have some mini ones on sale at Avon.com for 99 cents, so it would be easy to try. The part number for black is 583-377, Black/Brown 583-400,
Navy 583-415, Violet 583-420. I get mine from a woman at work who sells Avon.

I also had that problem (plus discovering on the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database that my eye makeup is quite toxic), so I looked for a less toxic alternative that also turned out to be non-smudgy. I bought the Almay One-coat Nourishing Mascara in Blackest Black, I really like it, it isn't waterproof but stays on really well even when damp. For eye liner I use L'oreal HIP (high intensity pigments) and I find it less smudgy than other eye liners I tried.

Hi D.-- I am a 37 yo mother of 4 boys and I completely understand the feeling old looking. I use Mary Kay I love it!!! I have been using it on and off for years stopped because money was tight. Then I started again and some of the products have helped tremendously. Their mascara I use does not run at all and I wear contact also. I can get you some to try, and if you like it you can pay me for it and if not you can send it back to me. That way it will cost you nothing. you can send me a private email if you are interested.

Well I'm a 40 yr old woman who has been where you are and I've tried hundreds of different products. The best product I now own and will not use anything else on my face for makeup is Bare Minerals/Bare essentials and I buy it through QVC.com It is the best. Its good for your skin, it stays put, you can sleep in it and it will still be there. the eye liner and mascara are great. But I love the shodows and the whole product line. Its all made of minerals and its wonderful. I swear by it.

Hi D., I swear by Maybelline's Great Lash in the pink and aqua bottle. I have used this same brand for 20+ years and just love it. I've tried the expensive department store brands and none compare! I even sold cosmetics for a few years (I wont mention the name, but it was along the tuperware type sales but for makeup) and still - I wouldn't wear the company's mascara - although I tried it - I still wore Maybellines. Plus a lot of times, you can find it at Walmart 2 for 1. Goodluck in your search! J.

I use bare minerals for it. It is great and stays put even when I'm crying or the girls are putting wet hands on my face. You can also sleep in it!

oh my gosh, this is an easy one! Arbonne has the best make up I've ever used. It is very reasonably priced as well. I put on my make up at 6am and don't touch it up even if I have a meeting in the evening. It has a flawless, airbrushed look to it, they even have a make up primer that makes your face feel like silk! My friend and celebrity make up artist Krista Embry from Kentucky uses only Arbonne on her clients! That is a great testimonial to these products since she can choose make up and skin care from companies that only sell to make up artists.
I'm not sure where you live, but I would be happy to give you a Free make up consultation in a one on one setting. Tell you the colors that work for you and let you know how much it will cost to have what you need to make you look great and feel great! My friend was amazed when she actually tried the mascara finally (she has never been able to wear it because her eyes would get weepy and red since she was a teenager) She is sold on Arbonne now and you can actually see how pretty she is behind her glasses. I hope to hear from you, this is the fun part of my mom owned business. You can check me out on this site under mom owned businesses and find the discount I offer for people on this site. L.

Hi, My greatest "eye-find" in the past few years is "bare canvas" paint by M.A.C.
You apply it on your eye lids before anything else and then eye shadows and liners stay put for hours. It's fantastic! I've got combination skin and a couple of years ago I switched to Estee Lauder cleansers. They're certainly more expensive but they work best for me. The eye moisturizer has made a huge difference in getting rid of any puffiness or darkness under my eyes. Good luck.

Prescriptives is sold in Macy's and those types of places. I think they are great. They have a waterproof mascara that I wouldn't trade for anything. I sleep in it and it is only slightly dark under my eyes in the morning. I can go swimming with it on without a problem. The best eye makeup remover that I've ever found for waterproof mascara, and trust me I have tried them all, is Chanel's. It is called bi-phase (or dual-phase, they changed the name years ago and I can't remember which is the new name and which is the old). It isn't cheap but it works great on waterproof mascara and is not greasy. I was also having a hard time keeping eye shadow in place, but Prescriptives makes a cream shadow/eyeshadow base that helps a lot. It is in a little pot and you put it on with your finger. I hope this helps. After years of surfing and being in water I am very particular about waterproof mascara, Prescriptives is great. Good luck, K.
